Before we start any shift (AM, PM, overnight), we always do the shift briefing when the MOD of the previous shift does the pass-on to make sure everyone on the same page and set up for success of the next shift.
The department really recognize the Talents and let employees do a lot of training. We have One-on-One, LQA, Service Plus, Heartist Nomination to ensure we run the operations smoothly and successfully. The main responsibilities of a Guest Services Agent are Guest Interaction and Duties Check-list. I always keep in my mind that the company mission is To Turn Moments into Memories so I always try my best to provide exceptional customer service. Also, I get recognized by hotel's guests, the leaders, and my colleagues for doing well. Another aspect of Front Office is about upgrading and selling rooms for walk-in guests. We have some competitions and goals every month so that we have commission of all sale activities. When working as the Night Audit, my duties are very straight-forward when I mostly focus on reports and Front Office activities during day-time. I ensure the billing is set up accurately and membership of hotel's guests are recognized. I also prepare all documents for the next-day shifts. The Night Manager is also my Mentor so he let me handle some MOD duties. I usually work 10-day straight and I am off for 3-4 days, which is quite exhausting at the beginning. But once I get used to it, I have extra day-off to do some adventure trips like hiking, canoeing, etc. and travel back and forth to Calgary, Vancouver, Banff, etc. Another good thing by working overnight is I can order meals cooked by the way I want or I can have meal from the Deli. I live in Lake Louise, which is accessible to Banff, Jasper, Canmore, etc. That said, apart from working hard, I have chance to enjoy breath-taking landscapes with various activities. As an employee of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, I can go canoeing for free while visitors have to pay more than $100/hour. That said, there are so many trails that I spend my time on hiking and camping with my friends. The hotel also has a lot of fitness classes that employees can join with guests.
