Today I learned about vocabulary, reading comprehension, contextual references, and critical thinking in sentence analysis. Through reading comprehension exercises, I inferred answers based on context, such as identifying Emilio’s situation in the baseball story and understanding the dangers of carbon tetrachloride. Additionally, I analyzed contextual references, learning how words like "this compound," "its," and "that can cause" refer back to specific ideas in a passage. I also practiced sentence analysis, recognizing how pronouns and relative clauses improve clarity. Overall, I enhanced my vocabulary, comprehension, and analytical skills in understanding written texts.

My favorite part of today's lesson was analyzing contextual references, especially identifying what words like "this compound," "its," and "that can cause" referred to in the passage. I enjoyed finding proof in the text and understanding how words connect to create clearer meanings.

Over the course of six meetings, I learned how to predict and guess words, was introduced to techniques for identifying reference words, and explored strategies for finding the topic sentence.

My favorite material is getting the main idea because finding it is easy, it is usually at the beginning, the end, or both.
