I have been a qualified midwife since 2009, initially working in a large hospital in London and then moving to Australia in 2013. During my 7 years in Australia, I was fortunate enough to work in a variety of settings and states, including as a caseload midwife, working in a high-risk tertiary centre and also working in a very remote area of Australia with a mainly Aboriginal community, which was fascinating and introduced me to the concept of generational trauma. Through my experiences, both professionally and personally, I developed an interest in mental health and undertook a post graduate certificate in perinatal mental health in 2019.

I completed my Professional Midwifery Advocate qualification in 2022 and work as a sessional PMA. I am passionate about supporting our staff to provide compassionate , person-centred care. I believe that by offering time in a safe space to explore feelings, experiences and concerns, this can have a positive impact on the physical and emotional well-being of midwives, improve retention and improve patient care.

I’ve been a PMA since 2019 and I can honestly say it is the most challenging and rewarding role I’ve ever had, and I hope to be a PMA for the rest of my career. Supporting and empowering people (both colleagues and the families I meet) to be confident and trusting in their decisions with the various choices available to them is where my heart is.

I am a working mummy, like many of my colleagues, and I truly understand the juggle of trying to be everywhere and everything to many different people. Sit with me, allow me to make you a drink and listen to you. You deserve and need self-care and this is where it starts.
