Era mediodía y el sol arrasaba, especialmente si el calor aumentaba desde hacía tres días. Volviendo a mi rancho seguido del sol y de mis perros, a duras penas controlado mi cuerpo conmigo. Contando cada sospechoso y oyendo los quejidos de los perros acalorados, enviado pronto, cómo todo comenzó a ir más lento ... Cada segundo duraba horas y el viaje se hizo eterno. 
 Pero sin aviso alguno, una ráfaga de brisa fresca irrumpió en mi cara, y yo corrí una casa, entré y me recosté en mi cama exhausto. Cuando en un idioma incomprensible oí una voz murmurar. ¿O eran dos? Sí, eran dos ¿O tres? ¿O cinco?
