I want you to begin to look at the poem from an analytical point of view. Read the poem, read it again, adding annotation on the second reading, then:

-Explain the significance of the title of the poem. Why has Duffy chosen it?

-Explain what you think the poem tell us about love. What kind of emotion is it/what reaction does it create in us?

I want you to focus on the exemplar 'P.E.A.L' paragraph on slide 9.

From using the exemplar, write down what you think..

-A good 'P.oint' needs to include...

-How to select, show and use good 'E.vidence' (quotation from the text)

-What is literary 'A.nalysis', what does good analytical writing need to include? What should it look like?

-How to 'L.ink' quotations together? Why do we compare/contrast different parts of the poem? How can create productive links?

Copy and paste someone's paragraph from the previous task and suggest changes (with explanations as peer feedback).

Those images should be of ordinary, everyday objects or things that you feel could symbolise something more.

Create a brief portfolio of poetry (three poems, each at least 12 lines long, all must use some sensory language) with your poetry and accompanying images.

Create two PEAL paragraphs focused on the experience of the figure in the poem and how they feel about their identity.
