Patricia Flores (She/Her/Ella) When I think of my heritage, I instantly think of my favorite Mexican Dish (Pozole). Although there is different kinds and ways of making this delicious soup, it brings me back to my roots of when my grandmother and my mom would make this during the holidays. Often made at any family gatherings to remind us what family and our culture was about. Spending time together and passing along traditions to the next generations.

Gabriela Nocito - She/Her/hers
I chose to share empanadas since this is the "party" food in my family. I was born and raised in Argentina. We make empanadas at birthdays, anniversaries, any other get-together. We make them to share with others and always make extra to take home. To me, this dish represents family and good times. And since there are so many variations (no two people make them the same) it also represents the diversity within our communities.

Kenny Gonzalez - He/Him/His
I chose Nacatamales, a traditional Nicaraguan dish. They are real treat. It has masa, rice, meat, potato, tomato, and usually some prunes, green olive, capers and raisins. It is a complete meal in a nice package. They are also packaged in banana leaf as opposed to corn husks for steaming. The banana leaf also imparts a wonderful flavor to the tamale.

Kevin Recinos - Mixiotes is the dish that brings me joy, alongside others such as Mole or habas con nopales. Mixiotes is the dish that my family makes on special occasions, whether its a birthday or a holiday, mixiotes may be a part of it. This dish reminds me of family get-togethers and I hope to learn my mother's recipe to have it with me where ever I go.
