We discussed the meaning of the sayings and how it's different from what they literally mean. 

We also spoke about using a reading diary as a method to process what we read and also our feelings. 

For grammar we learned how to use literal speech in our stories as well as the punctuation marks.

His buildings don't look like any other buildings we've ever seen. Every floor looks so different from another and the roof often looks like an onion. The buildings are so colorful ans special. We drew our own Hundertwasser-buildings. We also spoke about being different and how this will open up new opportunities. The book we are reading is called "Irgendwie Anders" which is about an animal that doesn't look and act like other kids. After that, they made beautiful Posters illustrating their dream birthday parties and present them
in class. The students describe their parties using verb tener and the correct articles to present nouns. Besides learning a lot of vocabulary related with these topics, we continued  practicing gender and number agreement using verb ser in singular and plural (es and son).
We now have began a new unit and are learning  more vocabulary related to school supplies and musical instruments as well as routines and school activities. We are practicing more dialogues to ask about the existence of an object using verb haber and  Cuántos (How many). We will listen music from different Spanish speaking countries such as flamenco, ranchera, tango, cumbia and learn their country of origin.
Finally our last Project will be about the Special People in our lives. The students
will explain the things they do learning different verbs in Spanish. We’ve been making our way through all of the classics, from Cinderella to The Little Mermaid. Examining the main elements of what makes a fairytale: Heroine/villain and the theme of good vs evil, use of magic, conflict & resolution, moral or lesson and of course “living happily ever after.” For writers workshop, we’ve used this as the inspiration for creating our own fairytales including adaptions, collaborative and originals. We will have our publishing party June 8th and would love to have families join us in celebrating everyone’s hard work. 

Misplace your keys or phone, can’t find the pets toys anywhere? Have no fear, third grade can solve the mystery in a flash. We’ve been doing our due diligence to identify and examine all the clues and  discover the qualities of a great detective, while strengthening our problem solving and critical thinking skills.

We learned:
Das Rad (wheel), die Rolle (roll), die Kerze (candle), die Standwaage and den Handstand (the handstand). In the end everyone had to combine 3 or 4 elements and show them. 

We’ve already started with our new topic: rope skipping and ball coordination. 
We started with the basic jumping technique and are now working individually on different levels.
