Thailand is almost a peninsula with the Indian Ocean and Andaman Sea surrounding it on a couple sides. On the curve on the Southern side of Thailand sites the capital city of Bangkok. Thailand is surrounded by a couple countries. The first being Malaysia on the South. Then Cambodia, Southeastern of Bangkok. Along the Northeastern side is the country of Laos. Lastly covering the entire west of Thailand and part of the North is Myanmar. Thailand is a country with a bunch of diverse ecosystems despite lying in a tropical region of the world. Thailand consists of edged coastlines along the southern tip, fields fertile enough for rice plantations in the central plains, among the northern end a vast majority of hills within a forest and among the northeast sits a large plateau. Within this country due to its diverse number of ecosystems, a diverse number of animals inhabit there. For example, in the north end forests, many animals like tigers, wild ox and leopards inhabit this ecosystem. The often go to the forest as they are more protected as I they were further south and closer to Bangkok. There are still swampy marshy areas of Thailand closer to the broad plateaus which in reality hosts cobras and crocodiles.  However, Thailand could not inhabit all these creatures without their weather patterns Thailand has a period between May and September where it rains almost every day and consists of moist and humid weather. Despite housing all these animals, Thailand is still home to billions of people across the 198,115 square miles it controls. Thailand first emerged as a Buddhist state known as the Sukhothai Kingdom in the early 1200’s. The people of this kingdom followed the branch of Theravada Buddhism. From there the country went into war after war switching leaders but ultimately keeping the faith of Theravada Buddhism. Their economy and government remained as a monarchy rule. However it had changed in 1932 to a democratic system still honoring the head of the monarch.

It has had 4 Kingdoms rule its land starting with the Sukhothai Kingdom in 1238. From there it went into the Ayutthaya Kingdom, Thonburi, and Rattanakosin Kingdom. Each period had shaped Thailand’s government and people into what it is today. Starting with the Sukhothai period, the monarchy system had emerged in soon to be Thailand. It had made its way to its final king a century and half later, with King Ramkhamhaeng the Great. However, after his death soon fell the Sukhothai period. The Ayutthaya period had begun in 1351 and lasted till 1767. Many of the people of this time period referred to soon to be Thailand as Siamese as the neighbors of the country called it Siam. This time period hosted a bunch of wars against political boundaries on the edge of imperialism. With Siamese being right on the edge of the Khmer Empire, it is open to invasions and wars. The Khmer did eventually strike leading to a bunch of captors of its own government and craftsman. Wars continued to breakout even during this war the Siamese had conquered Angkor. When they had decided to do this, they brought over some of the Khmer captors. However, by the time this happened the Siamese had started gaining some of the Hindu belief systems into their government. For example, the hierarchy of the king where everyone is to treat king like God. Although, Theravada Buddhism had still shaped society in village life, amongst slaves, and even provided some free young males an education.  This period ultimately fell in 1767 in a 2-year long war with the Burmese after capturing the capital city of Siamese. Next the Thonburi Kingdom had emerged from 1767 to 1782 with the government of a feudal absolute monarchy. This period was the shortest period with only one king named King Taskin the Great. He became king when he relocated to the capital of the kingdom Thonburi. The reason this period is awfully short, is all that happened was the relocation of the capital to Bangkok by a new king, King Rama I. Ultimately starting the future for Thailand. Early during this time period invasion from Western countries had started to emerge with Europe’s idea of imperialism. The kings however, started trading and making peace agreements in order to preserve their country and make it through the age of imperialism. Fast forward 200 years to 1932, Siamese had changed its name to Thailand in recognition of the country’s native tongue. It had also made a dramatic change in the government. It had changed from a feudal absolute monarchy to a democratic system still with the King as the Head of State.

On June 3^rd, 2021, their House of Representatives passed 2022 budget bill of over 3 trillion baht. Thailand’s House of Representatives had begun to set up a budget committee with over 50 members to review the bill for 105 days. The prime minister has stated in the closing of the meeting that he is not a dictator and will take the steps to keep the Thai people happy.
