-  Why does the author go to the past and the present throughout the story?
To show the way the they've grown throughout the years and develop the story of how they fell in love. It also creates the feeling of anticipation.
- How does the author characterize Augusta or "Gus" in the beginning of the story?
She's always in a rush and not attentive and always worried about work.
-  What was michael's career & James career?
Michael is a vet and James is a surgeon

-  In both the story and the series, the parents started questioning themselves and overthinking where they went wrong.

-  Now that the autopsy came in do you think Chris killed Emily and why?
Yes because she had signs of struggling and she was pregnant. Chris probably didn't want the baby since she was 11 weeks in.
- Why was Melanie mad that Michael picked out the outfit for the burial for Emily?
Because she was in denial and it was an outfit that Emily wasn't going to fit her personality showing that her parents didn't know her well.

Inner Conflict: Melanie wants someone to blame for the death of her daughter. She doesn't want to believe that she missed the signs of her daughter being suicidal so she rather believe that Chris is responsible even if she has known him forever  
Foreshadow: Melanie tried to run Chris over in his drive way and then acted like it was nothing, she would of never done that before. Foreshadow to Melanie starting to lose her mind

TV Show : Chris' mom is convinced that he is not guilty and this relates to a show on MTV where people are accused of crimes that they haven't done and go to jail for year/life.
