1. Log into myPurdue and click on the "Academics" tab or search for the "Emergency Contacts" tile/link.

2. Review/Update: If you have an existing contact, review it for accuracy. If no contact exists, click "New Contact" to add details.

3. Click the "Verify" button (if an Order 1 contact exists) or "Verify/Submit Changes" (if adding/editing) at the bottom of the page.

4. Confirmation: The hold is released automatically once you submit, and you'll see a date indicating when it was last verified.

Financial Responsibility Hold:

1. Log into myPurdue.

2. On the "Student Account Important Items" card, click the "Affirmation of Financial Responsibility" link.

-OR- If you don't see it there, you can also look on the "Bills and Payments" tab and click on "Affirmation of Financial Responsibility".

Direct Deposit Hold:

1. Log into myPurdue.

2. Go to the Bills & Payments tab.

3. Click the "Setup e-Refund Account" link to open the TouchNet portal.

4. Set up your bank account for eRefunds to remove the Direct Deposit hold. 

Immunization Hold:

Identifying Specific Missing Vaccines

To see exactly which vaccines are missing or need documentation, use the PUSH Patient Portal.

1. Log into the Patient Portal using your Purdue credentials and two-factor authentication.

2. Click on the Medical Clearances tab.

3. Review the status of each requirement. If a submission is "Awaiting Review," it may take up to 10 days for PUSH staff to process it.

4. If there are issues with a specific submission, PUSH staff will send a secure message through the portal explaining what is needed.

Log in to your myPurdue and select the Academics tab. In the Destination Graduation card, you will select Apply to Graduate. 

Review the information and select a term. Note: This is not the term you wish to graduate. This is the most recent term in which you were enrolled in the degree-seeking program that you plan to earn a degree. Select a term and hit Submit. 

A Curriculum Selection page will appear.  Please carefully review the information on this page! If anything is incorrect, do not continue. Contact your academic advisor right away to update your curriculum. 

Students who have multiple majors only attend one commencement ceremony. The first major you select during the application to graduate process determines which commencement ceremony you attend. You must then go back and submit a new application for any additional programs or certificates. 

If you have more than one active degree program, you’ll be presented with multiple buttons to select. You may only select one at a time. Select your highest degree first. Example: You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree and a certificate; select the bachelor’s. 

You’ll be required to submit the application for one completely. You can then go back and submit a new application for any additional programs or certificates. If everything is accurate, including minors, you may select the button and click continue. 

The next screen will ask you to select the term in which you’ll complete your requirements and plan to graduate. Select your term and select Continue.

Review the information one more time for accuracy before you submit the request.

• Action Required Tab: A dedicated tab will appear in the left-side menu if you have a registration hold.

• Holds Link: Click the link stating "You have one or more Registration Holds on your account" to view details, including the office that issued the hold (typically PUSH for immunizations) and its impact.

• Alternate Navigation: You can also navigate to Academics > Personal Information or the Registration page and select "Do I have any holds?"

• The course can count for credit hours (if approved).

• The grade itself does not transfer into Purdue’s GPA

• On the Purdue transcript, it typically shows as transfer credit (TR) rather than a letter grade.

So, even if a student gets an A or a D elsewhere, it won't raise or lower their Purdue GPA. Taking the class just helps the student check off a requirement.

• Does it meaningfully support your goals?

• Are you genuinely interested in it?

• Will it delay graduation or add cost?

• Does it build a clear skill set?

• Could experience "beat" the minor?

Other important considerations:

• Minors can be closely related to your major, represent a supplemental set of skills to enhance your major, or be unrelated to your major.

• Purdue offers a long list of minors. Some minors are only offered to students in a particular major, while others are open to all majors.

• Not all minors require the same number of credits. Generally, a minor will require 12 to 18 credit hours.

• If you take a class that satisfies a requirement for both your major and minor, the credits for the class can be used for both.

Student WebEx Drop-in Sessions:

WebEx Drop-ins are intended for matters regarding F-1 and J-1 student regulations that can be addressed in 10 minutes or less. Upon clicking the WebEx link, students wait in a virtual lobby; student counselors admit students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

While there is no official process to withdraw from Purdue for a future term, students should consider the following:

Students are placed on notice after a cumulative (overall) GPA and/or a semester GPA falls below a 2.0. Students return to good academic standing once both GPAs are at or above a 2.0 in a fall or spring semester. (Academic Standing is not assessed during summer terms).

Sometimes it may take a while to raise a cumulative GPA above a 2.0 so as long as one of your GPAs (cumulative or semester) is at or above a 2.0, students can continue on notice. If both of a students’ GPAs fall below a 2.0 while on academic notice, then the student will be academically separated from the university.

• When a student reaches the age of 18 or begins attending a postsecondary institution at any age, FERPA rights transfer from the parent to the student.

• FERPA regulations take effect as soon as the Purdue student receives a schedule of classes from the University.

A student can give parents, legal guardians, or other trusted parties access to view certain pieces of their student information online. This access is referred to as proxy access, and the person who is granted this authorization is called myPurdue proxy. The student controls the entire process through their myPurdue Portal, and can add anyone with a valid email address as a proxy.

Steps to drop a class:

4. It will ask you to confirm.

5. Then you must click Submit Schedule.

You can confirm the withdrawn status for the course by viewing your Detail Schedule in myPurdue.

• If you have separated for the first time, you may not reapply to Purdue until you have been away at least one full term (fall or spring) and completed at least 12 credit hours at another regionally accredited institution. Credit taken during a summer term can be submitted to Purdue for transfer credit evaluation, but a summer term does not count as a full term away from Purdue.

1XTRA - Extra Credit -- You provided a course which has more credit than Purdue's version. You received equivalent credit equal to ours and additional credit(s) (XTRA) to show you earned more hours in your transfer course. 1XUND - Undistributed Credit -- This course has been reviewed and is not found to be equivalent to Purdue's course. Course is not equivalent to anything the Purdue department offers or it does not have similar enough content.  It may be used at the discretion of your major department through your academic advisor.

1XXXX - Unevaluated Credit -- This course will be accepted at least as undistributed credit by Purdue. However, the course has not been reviewed by the Purdue academic department for course equivalency. Syllabi are required for evaluation; please provide to transfercredit@purdue.edu.

Students can begin registering in Scheduling Assistant with their Fall PIN on Tuesday, September 8th. An appointment with your Advisor is recommended but not required to register.

2. Faculty research in your areas of interest: Purdue departments and faculty websites are often the best way to identify labs and professors doing work that interests students.
