         <description><![CDATA[<div>• Uma reação de oxidação-redução (redox) é uma reação onde existe transferência de</div><div>eletrôes entre duas espécies químicas. Esta reação é o resultado de uma oxidação e de uma redução.<br><br></div><div>• Um elemento diz-se oxidado quando houve um aumento da carga desse elemento químico.</div><div>Exemplo: Fe (s) + 2 Hˆ(1+) (aq) -&gt; Feˆ(2+) (aq) + H2 (g). Neste exemplo o ferro sofreu</div><div>oxidação pois viu a sua carga aumentar de Fe para Feˆ(2+) (cedeu dois eletrões).<br><br></div><div>• Um elemento diz-se reduzido quando houve uma diminuição da sua carga. Exemplo:</div><div>Fe (s) + 2 Hˆ(1+) (aq) -› Feˆ(2+) (aq) + H2 (g). Neste caso o hidrogénio foi reduzido pois viu a</div><div>sua carga diminuir de 2 Hˆ(1+) para H2 (recebeu dois eletrões).</div><div><br>- Uma espécie química só pode ser reduzida se existir outra no meio que, e entretanto, se</div><div>oxide. A esta espécie química que se oxide chama-se espécie redutora, uma vez que ao</div><div>oxidar-se, obriga a que a outra se reduza, uma espécie diz-se oxidante se obriga a que a</div><div>outra se oxide.</div><div>• As reações redox podem ser generalizadas em A + Bˆ(1+) &lt; Aˆ(1+) + B</div><div>• Admite-se por par conjugado oxidação-redução espécies com o memo elemento químico</div><div>que diferem no respetivo estado de oxidação</div><div>• Certos metais têm mais tendência a oxidar (Potássio, Sódio, Cálcio, Alumínio, etc.),</div><div>enquanto que outros tendem a reduzir-se, sendo mais resistentes à oxidação (Ouro, Prata,</div><div>Cobre, etc.).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>O estanho é utilizado no revestimento de latas de ferro, nomeadamente designadas para conserva de alimentos. Será expectável que o estanho tenha um poder redutor menor do&nbsp; que o ferro, desta forma não haverá reação de oxidação-redução, pois o ferro só sofre oxidação se o metal que o cobre (neste caso o estanho), sofrer corrosão. Se o metal estanho tiver menor poder redutor que o ferro, com menos facilidade sofrerá corrosão, é logo impedirá o ferro de sofrer oxidação e possivelmente formar uma camada exterior oxidada, cujas partículas poderiam passar para os alimentos conservados, tornando-os prejudiciais para a saúde de quem os consumisse.<br>De acordo com a série eletroquímica da página 158 do Manual “Eu e a Química- 11 ano” confirma-se a previsão apresentada, o estanho (Sn) tem menor poder redutor que o Ferro (Fe).<br><br></div>]]></description>

Quando o grau de pureza do alumínio ou do zinco diminui, ou quando os dois metais não são&nbsp; lixados convenientemente (a camada oxidada não é propriamente removida, logo pode não reagir devidamente com um dado catião metálico e induzir ao erro que tem um poder redutor maior ou menor do que o que realmente tem) ,facilmente a escala de poder redutor dos&nbsp; metais pode ficar alterada em relação à escala do poder redutor teórica. Ou seja, tendo em conta a proximidade entre o zinco e o alumínio na escala de poder redutor, o zinco pode passar a ter maior poder redutor do que o alumínio, que foi o que aconteceu nesta experiência.&nbsp;</li></ul>]]></description>
