My first day with the facilitator trainee programme has ended and now it is time to put my thinking cap on and reflect on what we did today.

We started the day with nice warm-up activity to get to know each other. It was quite fun to participate, so it can be adapted to my 5th graders with minimizing the numbers and choosing partners beforehand.

As for the Actionbound, although I love digital and tech-involved lessons, the restrictions on students using mobiles within the school area makes it impossible to implement it with my students. Still, I saved the idea for my PDC meetings.

Circle and role-play activities are totally applicable with my student group except the writing part. (questions can be given as a handout instead.)

I would prefer using the combination of coursebook, authentic materials and using the other sources for the listening tasks, and that's actually what I am currently doing in my classes.

I take listening tasks from various websites that are designed for educational purposes and sometimes just take the text and not the task, and after some alterations I can take the task as well.

As for authentic materials, although they are hard to adapt and adjust and mostly write the task from the scratch, students tend to find it more relatable and real life-like.

In addition to that, today we learned some ideas concerning developing more active skills;

I could definitely use "Nodding noises" just like our trainer did today. As my students' speaking level is not that advanced, I would have to convert the pair work into teacher to classroom.

As a teacher who worked in three different districts including the current one I work now, the most common problem for students is low confidence and lack of motivation. It is sometimes such a level that I find myself explaining how English is also the language of technology.

Today while working on solutions I was enlightened by all the possible solutions and am quite willing to try all of them including asking better ICQ's (which now occurs to me that I was terrible about it) Proving the students by choosing a couple of them and trying to impose the idea, if one of them can do it, EVERY one of them can also do it.

They might perfectly work in my classrooms because especially younger groups tend to follow each other on almost any matter. In other words we can take advantage of "herd mentality" -only for educational purposes.- 😊

2)In my opinion they would love "Sleeping Pandas" and Jigsaw reading, because they turn a physically passive activity into an active one.

Besides being tiring, today was also a day which made my mind burst with ideas. Here are some of them with their reasons about why I would use them.

5 Fingers: this activity is a great warm-up, interactive and extraordinary. I find this extremely useful for my own lessons because the activity itself does not require that much of a linguistic production. It will probably be chaotic but definitely worth trying!

Onion-Rings: another activity which makes you get up and move, but less chaotic than 5 fingers is definitely worth trying as well because of giving a real context to the speaking skill and taking a small preparation time.

Tarsia: As a person who loves teaching vocabulary, this is one of the first ideas that I will start to implement immediately, I have been seeing them online but did not know how to use them until today.

traffic lights and monkeys. I will surely use monkeys instead of "I can" types.

Roleplay game with swapping roles were also quite inspiring and could even be used as an assesment technique for speaking.
