Poseidon is the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses, but is mainly known for his supreme rule over the sea. Poseidon, just like other human beings, has his moments of kindness; however, if crossed, he could also smite his people with epilepsy. Poseidon was very short tempered, and when not appeased, there were grave consequences such as tidal waves, pool waters, or even earthquakes, which is why he is also known as "Earth Shaker." This shows that he's capable of destruction, and the sea and earth reflects his emotions.

Poseidon is best known as the God of the sea and watery domains of the earth. He is also one of the three supreme gods of Mount Olypmus, along with his brothers, Zeus and Hades. After Zeus overthrew their father, Cronus, the brothers went their own ways to rule a different domain of the world. Zeus became the god of the sky, Hades the god of the underworld, and as you know, Poseidon became god of the sea. Not only does Poseidon rule the sea, he rules earthquakes and both land and sea animals. Although known for superiority, Poseidon is popular for his temperamental personality.

In Greek Mythology, Poseidon plays a very important role as the god of the sea. He assists those seeking help and protection when water is involved. For instance, he helps protect sailors during storms, guides ships in danger to safety, and even causes flood to help the harvesting areas suffering from the lack of water restore their grounds.

When angered, Poseidon may be very unpredictable and moody. Earthquakes, storms, shipwrecks and even drowning occurs when Poseidon is seeking revenge whether on other gods/goddesses, demi-gods, or humans. However, when he is pleased, he is very loyal, collaborative , strong and wise. For example, he sided with the Greeks to help them win the Trojan War , helped the land areas suffering from droughts, saved many from the dangers of the sea, and did so much more.

To other gods/goddesses , demi-gods, and humans, he is view as the god who must be taken with caution when dealing with. Not showing the correct respect may result in unwanted and unfortunate situations. With Poseidon ruling the watery domains , two-thirds of the earth, humans honor him to make the best out of their journey across the water.
