I would rate this book an eight out of ten. In this book there is a man named Louis Zamperini whose family moved from Italy. As a child Louis was constantly stealing. It was said it it was edible, Louis would steal it. He was a troubled child but his brother, Pete, pulled him out of his shell and got him into running. Louis ran everyday until he got into the Olympic's. Later in life he joined the army and was in a bomber crew. That plane eventually fell into the ocean and only Louis survived.
I rated it an 8 out of ten because it was a great book but there were way too many pictures and not enough details in the writing.

In the beginning he was a selfish little kid who loved to steal things. His parents were tired of it and they didn't know what to do. His brother Pete had the answer ; Louis should join the track team. It took a lot of convincing but Pete got Louis to try out. By the end of high school Louis was running at an Olympic level. That speed carried him to the Berlin Olympic's, but when the war came Louis became an airman. He was on a flight and the plane crashed in the middle of the ocean. They crew all died except one lucky Louis. He faces multiple trials one more painful than the last. After that he becomes a selfless caring man.

He was stranded, beaten, lost, and became a POW or prisoner of war.
