H= The treatment and lack of food that Richard Fredthornes had to endure as an indentured servant is what motivated him to write this letter describing his experience.
I= He wrote this document with the intentions of his mom and dad reading it.
P= The purpose of the letter was to explain his living conditions to his family and ask them, in the hope that they would show him sympathy and mercy, to ship food and material over to him so that he could be free of his work.
P= As we can see from the text, Richard did not enjoy being an indentured servant. It was a very harsh and deadly lifestyle which we wished to be freed of.

H=The African slave had wrote about his experience in about 1619, portraying the hardest time within his lifetime to his people. This included hard conditions that could risk his survival rate.
I=His intentions behind this letter, was to share his experience to his mother and father, in hopes of them getting a hold of it.
P=The purpose of writing this letter to home, was to share his mistreatment, and his daily activities with his family in hopes of them showing sorrow and mercy to him. He explained the hard labor that went along in his agenda, showing his body was weak. He portrayed that there was diseases spreading, "everybody around me is weak and sick". He kept status on what he had been eating on the daily, a spoonful of peas to a handful of bread. He did not want to continue his journey.
P= What I had gathered from reading this text was that Richard Frethornes did not like his experience and his treatment. He knew his life was on the line, and it wasn't good for him emotionally or physically.

H. The document was written by Richard Frethorne in 1623, a time where plantation owners brought workers called indentured servants to work on their tobacco plantations in exchange for passage to the New World and the promise of opportunity once their contract expired. However, these workers were often treated poorly and lived in harsh, deadly conditions.

I. The author was writing to his parent, who live in England

P. The purpose of his letter was to explain to his parents how difficult his life has been, how poor and weak he was, and how many people around him are dying. He was begging for them to send him food or money, which would determine whether he lived or died.

P. Richard Frethorne was an indentured servant working on a plantation in Virginia. He was living through terrible working conditions, disease, hunger, and Indian attacks, and was scared that if his parents didn’t send him what he requested, he would die.
