Mike was born in 1973 so he attended school between 1978 to the late 1980s. Mike states while he was in school they were strictly used textbooks supplies like pencil and paper as computers didn’t really come out for him until the sixth grade which was then where they would play 45 minutes on a program called Oregon Trail. Similar to websites like cool math Oregon Trail was an educational game developed in 1971 and it’s still available today.

Out of the technologies, he liked books the most. He stated he preferred the use of outside books things like textbook, thesaurus, dictionary, or other novels. He didn’t quite like computers as he felt they were very advanced, and too difficult to understand whoever this really highlights why things like a digital course would be very beneficial to students as it will teach them digital skills, and how to use things like computers later on.

Asked him if he would recommend we continue using digital resources in our classrooms and he said yes but as long as we practice using traditional sources as well as they are very important when we can’t rely on digital sources. He also went onto state how he preferred the traditional method also because he grew up in a household where his parents didn’t speak English, so he would often have to translate things from English to Spanish for his parents. This really made me think of how having digital resources in classrooms will help others understand and not fear technology as much.

Stephen was born 1990 he went on to tell me technology to use while he was in school would be things like basic textbooks and calculators. They used power points in the old projectors, not smart boards. He went on to say computers were introduced to his elementary school in 1999 where computers became his favorite type of learning technology. This was due to him, saying, computers were much faster, and they gave you access to multiple sources for many different things. He states that he wasn’t quite fond of calculators to use as a learning tool as he felt like they were a bit slow, especially with inputting the calculations.

I asked Stephen if we should continue to use digital resources in our classrooms. He replied with yes, as technology can grab the students' attention, and it keeps up with more modern times. He also went under state, how teaching it earlier on will help students create and understand digital learning more and help with the homework and achievement gap that may fall with digital learning.

Lili was born in 2006 she went on to state how she was introduced to devices such as laptops, chromebooks, and other electronic sources besides textbooks, and paper. She also went on to states and she’s still in school. She’s still using things like laptop and Chromebook in class, especially when doing projects. She stated she preferred the laptops and chrome books, then to the traditional learning style as she does not like taking notes, and she feels like this is a more efficient way for her to learn and focus. Using programs like canvas and student view to help monitor and check your classes and your grades. Also proved to be helpful to her as well and she didn’t have to feel stressed that she could go check her grades at almost any time.

Canvas tool (Lilianna)

I asked her what tool out of all helped as a learning experience, and she stated the laptop and using canvas helped enhance her learning. She explains how canvas helps her know when her assignments are due and I hope to keep track of everything but also things like this radio display feature. Also being able to talk to your instructor in canvas, discussion forums, and so on it’s a great communication method, she said, and also ensures that you are able to keep track of your progress. I then asked her which we should continue using canvas in schools and she said absolutely as it is a very efficient way for students to keep track of their work and grades. And she went onto state that some students in her class would fall behind before when they wouldn’t know when assignments are due so having canvas with the to-do box was a really helpful feature to her.
