+-SON is a residency for five musicians with different backgrounds and sound languages. 30 days organized in 4 weeks to listen, collide, and build something that could only exist between these specific people, in this specific place.

Week 1 — Arrival and listening

Build trust, explore the environment, present personal practices. Deliverable: first short improvisations and field recordings.

Week 2 — Expansion and friction

New configurations each session — solos, duos, trios. Open and closed prompts, rotating roles, graphic scores. Deliverable: a sound document from at least one session during the week.

Week 3 — Collective research

The group starts deciding: which relationships to continue, which materials to develop. Longer pieces, site-specific interventions, ideas for the final showing may emerge. Deliverable: a concrete proposal — any format — for week 4.

Week 4 — Opening to the public

Final presentation of the process. Not a closed result: an opening. Deliverable: concert, installation, radio broadcast, happening — the group chooses.

It is a 3 weeks residency program targetted to performers who are in their intermediate stage of production, and who are looking for production time, professional expertise and guidance to develop their performance material. Mainly performers who direct their own performances, as solo performers or small collectives. In addition to the performer/s, it can include a scenographer or a musician if it is a small collective.

The residency structure consists of: Individual rehearsal time, Mentors’ observations, sharing practice & open rehearsals.

The residency prioritises experimental artistic practice, encouraging residents to dedicate time to explore their developed material and performance approaches.

Reflective observations and artistic support are central to this process. Through daily observations by the mentors followed by 1:1 meetings with each artist indivisually to reflect on the observations, the work process, challenges the artists are facing and their needs.

About the residency space:

Brogården Kulturvæksthus is a large maner house, that is turned into an artist residency and incubator for the creative sector, a cultural hub.
It has accommodation facilities, working atelier, meeting spaces, pottery studio, 2 shared kitchens, 2 bycicles & gardens dedicated for resident artists and guest seminars. It collaborates with its neighbouring 3min walk highschools and local theatre it has access to book and use the dance studios and rehearsal rooms when needed.

The residency is 5 min walk from the fjord, 10 min walk from the station and the town center (thrift stores for props and costumes). There are many small forests around and the westcoast beach is 10 min drive.

About the mentors

Sarime Alvarez Hernandez is a professor & stage director, theatre anthropology researcher playwright & literary advisor. Trained in Cuba, Mexico, Denmark, and Italy, with over 20 years of experience in research, pedagogy, training, and artistic creation.
Her pedagogical as well as stage direction background and her connection to the laboratory practice, makes her an excellent candidtate to mentor performers at their journey of the residency.

Dina Abu Hamdan is a stage director and producer that comes from the dance background. Specialised in movement, and outdoor and community enaging productions. Has experience in light art and digital technology. She is a certified coach and a cultural officer at the municipality of Ringkøbing Skjern Kommune.

Rooted in the values of accessibility, inclusion, and community participation, the residency explores how art can transform places and connect people across different backgrounds and experiences. Five European artists will collaborate to create a new multilingual performance rooted in the Pulcinella archetype — exploring its echoes across European traditions (Punch, Polichinelle, Kasperl) through physical theatre, Grammelot, and theatrical anthropology.

The residency unfolds in four phases: immersion and research in Naples' historic sites, collective multilingual dramaturgy, intensive rehearsals with daily mentoring, and a final public performance at Teatro TRAM.

We are looking for writers who are already deep into a book project (this can be prose or poetry) and need to make a long, sustained push toward completion. A basic ability to communicate in English, Spanish, or Italian is very helpful for participation in communal life, and applicants who are actively writing in English, French, Spanish, or Italian are preferred as they will be able to take advantage of our manuscript consultations, however we will do our best to connect writers working in other languages with an appropriate mentor who is also working in that language.

Located in Pizzale, a small town in Northern Italy, the residency takes place in a former industrial building transformed by artists into a professional creation space. About Atheras Peoples & Cultures

Atheras is a Cyprus-based non-profit dedicated to cultural mobility, artistic research, and experimental practice, developing platforms where composition is rethought through new materials, structures, and collaborative processes.

Night as Commons explores darkness as a shared ecological, cultural and political condition. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial illumination, night has been fragmented, colonised and rendered scarce. Darkness — once a universal temporal commons — is now overshadowed by infrastructures that extend productivity, disrupt biological rhythms, and reshape the behaviour of humans and non‑humans alike.

The residency invites artistic and research‑based practices that engage with — or depart from — themes such as:

• night‑time ecologies and photoperiodicity
• the cultural, poetic or symbolic dimensions of darkness
• sensory experience, perception and orientation
• temporal critique, labour and the politics of illumination
• speculative, spatial or ecological approaches to “unbuilding” light
• light pollution, skyglow and disrupted rhythms

Darkness is approached not as absence, but as a medium of attention, a site of ecological entanglement, and a counter‑temporal space where other rhythms become perceptible.

The residency will host five international artists and creative professionals working in visual arts, design, and creative technology, exploring the intersection of digital fabrication, Mediterranean heritage, and environmental sustainability. The selected residents will work collaboratively and individually, supported by two dedicated mentors.

The project investigates Mediterranean cultural landscapes, coastal ecosystems, and sustainable artistic production while encouraging residents to develop new interdisciplinary works or prototypes that respond to the environmental and cultural context of the region.

EL SPACE has 3 locations in Tunis and offer coworking spaces, fully equipped FabLabs with 3D printers, laser cutters, and electronics prototyping tools, as well as an event venue and exhibition space. We strongly encourage the use of recycled, locally sourced, and sustainable materials throughout the creative process.

Outcomes include new interdisciplinary artworks or prototypes, a public exhibition/showcase in the palace gardens or creative hub space, digital documentation, and open workshops engaging the local youth and creative community of Tunis and Sidi Bou Said. The exhibition will happen in parallel to the Tunis biennale.

The selected residents will be accommodated in a comfortable guest house, with private rooms, shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen, common workspace areas, and a garden.

During the stay, residents will have the opportunity to engage with local makers, youth creatives, and cultural practitioners who are part of EL SPACE's vibrant community, as well as participate in networking events with local cultural actors. Sidi Bou Said itself, with its white and blue architecture, coastal cliffs, and proximity to the ancient site of Carthage, offers endless inspiration beyond the creative hub.

There will be no shortage of things to discover: from walks through the medina and along the Mediterranean coastline, to cultural visits, local markets, and the rich culinary traditions of Tunisia.

About Gullkistan

Founded in 2009, Gullkistan is an artist-run non profit  international artist residency that has welcomed more than 700 artists and scholars from around the world. 

Our mission is to nurture individual creativity and also to  foster meaningful dialogue between art, community, and the environment.

Residents are provided with studio space and accommodations in two separate buildings for up to 7 people. Most of it is wheelchair accessible. It is a  home, safe space and work place - all in one. Local services, pool, and spa are also accessible.

Gullkistan is located in Laugarvatn, a tiny village where there is a variety of thermal activity. It is cuddled between a mountain and a lake, overlooking the vast South Iceland lowlands where there are many thermal sites with examples of geothermal culture and cultivation AND spectacular views of volcanoes and glaciers.

The village offers shops, restaurants, a library, pool, spa, hiking trails, and spectacular views of volcanoes and glaciers.

The project:

Five participants will take over the Gullkistan facilities for the month of February 2027. They  will navigate and explore geothermal culture through lectures as well as artistic and interdisciplinary research, They will develop new creative responses inspired by Iceland's unique relationship with geothermal activity.

Residents will experience:

• Visits to geothermal bathing sites, thermal rehabilitation facilities, geothermal power plants, farms, and food producers.

• Lectures on Icelandic geology, geothermal energy, and bathing culture.

• Meet with scientists, farmers, local experts, institutions, and businesses working with geothermal resources.

• Time and space for individual artistic research and creation.

The Participatory Stage is a 6-week artist residency programme taking place in Malmö, Sweden, from 1 July – 14 August 2026.

The residency explores Participatory Theatre and Participatory Urban Design as tools for civic engagement, collective storytelling, and activation of public space within today’s complex social and political climate.

A multidisciplinary group of artists and cultural practitioners working across performing arts, scenography, architecture, urban design, and socially engaged practice will collaboratively develop participatory performances and temporary spatial interventions together with local audiences.

Hosted by STPLN at Kommendanthuset — a protected historical building near Malmö Castle — the residency combines co-creation, prototyping, and reuse-based methods to activate indoor and outdoor public spaces during the summer season.

Participants will receive accommodation in Malmö, access to a 200 m² studio and shared creative facilities, mentorship from participatory design practitioner Annita Douka, and opportunities to engage with Malmö’s local cultural and civic networks.

The residency culminates in public performances, gatherings, and temporary spatial interventions that invite audiences as active contributors rather than spectators.

We invite 5 artists or cultural professionals to explore Tirana through bicycle culture, light mobility, public space, and everyday urban life. Selected residents will have time to research, create, meet local communities, and develop new work inspired by the city.

As a residency host for Culture Moves Europe, a programme that supports individual mobility and residency projects across Creative Europe countries, ATLAS offers 5 residency grants for literary translators working to and from French, for a 3-month residency at the International College for Literary Translators (CITL), based in Arles, France.

Grantees will be able to focus on their translation projects and will be supported throughout their stay via a programme of activities designed to broaden or update their knowledge of the book industry in France, as well as their literary translation skills.

We are looking for artists interested in research-based and place-responsive practices, who are eager to develop new work through direct encounters with landscapes, communities, and the cultural meanings of water. The residency offers time and space for experimentation, dialogue, and exchange, culminating in the a final festival where artistic outcome are presented.

The residency takes place at Palazzo Santoro, a 18th-century building, registered in the Italian General Catalog of Cultural Heritage.

The Palace was meticulously restored and recently transformed into a residency for cross-cultural fertilisation. Aggregate buildings, arranged around an irregular polygonal courtyard, provide a

fine space to work, live and build social interaction. There are four bedrooms (each with a private bathroom), a common

lounge with TV, a large shared kitchen, the laundry facilities. Palazzo also comprises two large equipped halls dedicated to open cultural activities (the Sala Degli Specchi and the Sala Millenium), a café/bistrot, a theatre, a bookshop, a cloakroom, an information point, offices and staff rooms.

Palazzo Santoro is located in Bojano, a small town in rural Molise, surrounded by landscapes rich in water resources, cultural traditions, and ecological diversity. The area offers a unique setting for artists interested in environmental research, community engagement, and the relationship between nature and culture.

Interdisciplinary artists working across ceramics, culinary research, social practice and design explore themes such as soil, cultivation, land use and food heritage. Using locally sourced clay and regional

agricultural products, participants engage with farmers, cooperatives and residents through field visits, open

studios and discussions.

BASIS provides accommodation, ceramic studios, shared kitchen and spaces for public interaction. The

residency culminates in a public Tavolata, a communal gathering where artistic outcomes, food practices

and stories are shared with the local community, reflecting BASIS’ mission to link culture, experimentation

and rural development.

About Labó Bosa

Labó Bosa is an independent art residency, printmaking studio and gallery founded in 2022 in Bosa, Sardinia, in a converted tannery within the historic Sas Conzas district on the banks of the river Temo. Since its foundation, the programme has hosted more than 20 international artists from six countries across residencies, workshops, exhibitions and public events. The gallery operates as a live commercial space exhibiting and selling the work of former residents on an ongoing basis, on artist-favourable terms. The relationship between Labó Bosa and its artists does not end when the residency does.

The project

Bosa is a village in the middle of changing and staying the same. Tourism has arrived, the economy has shifted, the image of the place has become part of what the place sells. And yet the village keeps being itself - contradictory, present-tense, not particularly interested in being read in any one way. Whether that is authenticity or stubbornness or simply the way places survive is hard to say, and probably all three.

Artists live an equivalent tension. Between the visual grammar that is most essentially theirs — the mark underneath the style, the technique, the discipline — and the pressure to adapt it, package it, make it legible and repeatable and sellable. Between what the work is and what it could become if it were easier to look at.

The Economics of Being Looked At works with that tension directly. Five artists from five different disciplines spend 31 days living and working together in the Labó Bosa studio. The programme includes scheduled sessions dedicated to finding and developing each artist's visual grammar — the mark that is most fundamentally theirs, prior to context and prior to market. The shared output of the residency is a collaborative set of screen prints: what happens when five distinct visual grammars have to find a common language, or discover what emerges when they cannot.

The residency is structured as a village: five people, five practices, one place - coexisting, not merging. No printmaking experience is required. The sessions are guided by three mentors with complementary expertise in printmaking, collaborative process and group facilitation.

AADK Spain is an international arts platform dedicated to contemporary research and creation, with a strong emphasis on experimentation and process-based practices. Its work explores the relationships between body, territory and spatiality, paying particular attention to the aural field and to practices of deep listening within specific environments.

Since 2012, AADK has promoted the decentralisation of culture and access to contemporary art in rural contexts, connecting local territories with international artistic networks. More than 700 artists from across five continents have collaborated with the platform.

Just as this place once welcomed scientists from around the world to witness and document an extraordinary submarine eruption, it once again opens its doors to contemporary creators — artists seeking to think and produce in direct contact with a unique volcanic landscape, where newly formed land evokes the beginnings of the Atlantic Ocean.

Since its inauguration in 2021, AVISTAVULCÃO has functioned as an active artistic residency and cultural space, hosting national and international artists and promoting a regular programme of exhibitions, performances, installations, gatherings, and activities with the local community.

At the heart of the space is the Temple, a creative and presentation area with panoramic views over the Capelinhos Volcano, the Atlantic Ocean, and the volcanic peaks. Fully equipped for multidisciplinary practices, it includes a studio, a library focused on Azorean culture and volcanology, and a viewing tower ideal for writing and reflection. The constant natural light and the extreme surroundings make this an environment of profound inspiration.

The residencies at AVISTAVULCÃO offer a refuge for artists immersed in their creative process, in a territory where wind, sun, rain, sea, and light shape the daily experience.

Resident artists are accommodated in a traditional basalt-stone house, renovated in 2018 while preserving the authentic character of the rural Capelo architecture.

Silence, nature, and open horizons make this place a rare space for creation, encounter, and contemplation. Casa da Missão, located at the westernmost point of Faial Island, 1.5 km from Capelinhos Volcano, is surrounded by nature and tranquillity, offering absolute silence and striking views. Its proximity to the natural pools of Porto do Comprido, volcanic hiking trails, and Macaronesian endemic laurel forests makes the experience even more unique.

Selected artists are invited to develop projects that engage with the uniqueness of a volcanic island in the Atlantic, establishing an intimate relationship with the rural landscape and the local community. The programme values interaction with the public, transforming the artistic experience into moments of sharing and active engagement.

We are preparing a 31-day international artists' residency in Dolina Harmonii, a regenerative cultural space in the Izera Mountains, bringing together 5 artists working in performing and visual arts.

The residency explores the relationship between inner human experience and natural landscapes.

Surrounded by forests, meadows and hills, artists will create new performances, visual works and site-responsive artistic interventions inspired by direct engagement with the environment.

The programme combines individual creation, interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship, culminating in public presentations for the local community.

One of the desired outcomes of the residency is the creation of a large wooden sculpture that will remain at Dolina Harmonii as a lasting artistic contribution to the site. We are therefore particularly interested in connecting with artists who have experience in wood sculpture, land art, environmental art, installation art, or large-scale outdoor artistic creations.

Grounded in Novi Sad’s rapid urban transformation and ecological pressures, it connects art, science, and civic dialogue. The creations include visual works, sound pieces, a public space intervention, and a short documentary. In collaboration with local experts, institutions, and communities, the project continues the socially engaged practice of kuda.org. Inspired by the concept of “social sculpture” by Joseph Beuys, it understands art as a collective process of shaping society and the environment, contributing to contemporary reflections on communication and shared responsibilities.

The residency will host three international artists: an architect, a visual or mixed-media artist, and a sound artist, working collaboratively or individually on site-specific artistic interventions. The selected artists will be working closely with a mentor.

The project explores depopulation, memory, and sustainable repurposing of rural spaces through permanent visual and sound installations, as well as an architectural study.

The premises contain 2 hectare of forest, and 8 traditional Galician stone houses in ruins. This will be your canvas to work with. We strongly encourage the use of reclaimed and native material for the art work.

Outcomes include a research and architectural spatial intervention proposal, a visual art installation integrated into the ruins, and a sound installation accessible through QR codes placed across the village.

The selected artists will be residing in climate controlled comfortable geodesic domes, equipped with full bathrooms.

Meals are usually prepared and shared collectively in our communal kitchen. We eat well and work well :)

During the stay, the selected artist will have a chance to interact with the local community in the neighbouring village, as well as other creative residents at O Castro. After all, O Castro is a meeting point and a space for exchange of ideas.

There will be too much on your list to do in your free time as well; from hikes in the forest, to film screenings, from learning a new recipe to making music.

Trahütten in the Koralpe region. The program focuses on queer art, drag and performance. Five artists from

across Europe will develop their artistic personas, stage identities and costumes, exploring performance as

a form of cultural expression and visibility. The residency is hosted at the queer art space and guesthouse

Absteige zur bärtigen Therese, offering a supportive environment for artistic experimentation and

exchange. Residents will also work in temporarily unused historic farmhouses in the village, activating these spaces as studios and contributing to the sustainable reuse of rural architecture. The project

collaborates with the local queer organisation RosaLila PantherInnen and includes an appearance at the

queer community centre Feel Free in Graz. The residency concludes with an Open Studio Day and a public

presentation of the artistic outcomes.
