This supports students who need that extra support. All students learn differently and at different rates. UDL is a helpful tool that allows the classroom to room smoothly because of all the modifications and accommodations. Some students like myself dislike taking multiple-choice tests the UDl allows students to prove their understanding through other options like an oral presentation or an essay format. This resource also touches on the importance of variety. This is beneficial for both students and teachers because the student will stay engaged while the teacher meets all their student’s needs. 

 

-The resources discuss the importance of helping every student reach their full potential. In the video, the speaker talks about the importance of technology in the classroom. The speaker believes that it is beneficial for students to mess around with technology and explore different ways to express themselves and prove their understanding.

-This resource allows teachers to learn how to make sure all their students being academically successful. The author mentions the ways teachers can use multiple means of representation to allow students to meet their full potential. The UDL makes things more flexible in the classroom that allows students to be successful and makes it an attainable goal for teachers to meet all their student’s needs. 

MTSS is designed to help students get the right amount of help that they may need.

This resources can help teachers narrow down the help of each student by pin pointing exactly what they need and in each subject. The different Tiers of the MTSS can help spread of each student.

~Instead of making classroom rules before the students arrive, we would consider making rules together as a class. This will support special needs students by giving them the opportunity to contribute to the rules that will govern the class we develop as a sense of ownership for the classroom. Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present and aware of where you are and what you are doing. Mindfulness allows special needs students to become more self-aware with classmates and teachers. It also increases focus, and reduces stress and anxiety.

~This supports special needs students by giving examples of accommodations and modifications such as break up testing over several days, providing different resources when reading a book (visuals, audio taped, etc), and using a tutor in the classroom. It can be difficult for a general education teacher to work individually with children with disabilities while also meeting the needs of the whole class. Tutoring not only provides increased practice and reinforcement for students with disabilities, but also promotes stronger social skills for all students and encourages friendships.

~This supports special needs by modeling for students and gradually turn the responsibility over to the student. The “I do, We do, You do” approach is especially beneficial to kids with special needs; it gives them the support they need to keep up with traditional classroom activities. The resource discussed not to assume what students can or cannot do with regards to participating in classroom activities. As a teacher we are to think of multiple ways students may be able to participate without feeling excluded.

This resource was found on the California Teachers Association website. The pdf offers methods that allow all students regardless of their ethnicity, social class, and citizenship status.  

-The resource touch on subjects that are sometimes ignored and should be spoken about. The resources discuss talking about race, equity over equality, and many other topics that will allow healthy relationships to be formed within the classroom between teachers and their students.
