Christopher Denise, who is both the author and illustrator, did a phenomenal job of portraying the young Owl's career as a future Knight. On this page, Owl is dreaming about how great a knight he will become. The colors depict medieval times in yellow, while Owl's bedroom is blue. These two colors mesh together exceptionally well. Throughout the story, we will frequently see these two colors, whether they are bright or dark.

Teachers who work with children from preschool through first grade can use this for their class library or recommend it as a part of their grade-level lesson plan. The picture book blends fantasy and historical elements, such as knights helping protect the castle from evil dwellings (historical fiction) and a bird representing a knight (fantasy).
