Dr.Saundra McGuire is a professor at Louisianan state university (LSU) and in this video she is being interview about what meta-cognition means to her
using her own words. she stated meta-cognition is "the ability to think about ones own thinking . . . it is if you have a big brain outside of your brain and its looking at what you brain is doing" (.0.40) she believes it i important because the way we learn new information is determined by the process we use. we normally don't fully learn due to the our strategies. We, I Say we because i am also guilty of this, tend to just memorize the given information but if we ask ourselves and told to tech the new information to our family or peers we have can't intimately tech what we have learned. (Wilmer Garcia)

(LUS Center for Academic success, 20113-04-13,)

YouTube.

John Legend is talking about how his failure pushed him to the person he is today. He took all his negative energy and turned it into a positive mindset to become successful.
By watching this video I learned that failing is a life lesson you learn from and make it into something positive. Just because you fail doesn't mean you just quit, it means to strive more. I think failure is a good thing. If you never fail from it its harder to achieve your goal or task. Failure gives you that sense of urgency to get yourself together soo you can succeed in what you are doing. I tend to fail in baseball but I learn from it and turn the failure into a learning stage and build off that. -Lando

John Legend: Success through effort. (2014, August 19).

Dr. Dan Siegel explains the importance and significance of mindfulness and how when properly done, can result in a more successful life and better overall mindset. Dr. Siegel portrays mindfulness as a sort of brain brushing. Somewhat like how a person brushes their teeth daily to keep them clean and healthy. With a clean and healthy mind you're able to be more compassionate and productive. If everyone chipped in a he stated that it would ultimately lead to world hygiene. What this video taught me was that the practice of "brain hygiene" or meditation has been practiced for centuries and with good reason. With all the technological advancements society's made throughout the centuries, science was able to prove that indeed mindfulness and meditation do work and can give results if implemented correctly into a persons life. -Jake

Dr.Dan Siegel on the importance of mindfulness
https://youtu.be/FXxrJEnIboM

Taking Responsible risks

(Wilmer Garcia)-Although risk taking may seem like a waste of time and unproductive step to accomplishing your goals. I consider it to be at least in the top 6 most important habits of mind. someone who doesn't take risk is somebody who accepts there comfort zone, like the warmth feeling it gives them. meanwhile there are other who view there comfort zone as a sign of complacent . as stared in the article," describing the habits of mind" written by Author L. Costa, "They accept confusion, uncertainty, and the higher risks of failure as part of the normal process, and they learn to view setbacks as interesting, challenging, and growth producing" Taking educational risk allows us to leave our comfort zone and exceed out limits, experiment wit growth setback. these setback later become huge boost that get use one step closer to our goals. This feeling of complacent gives us the ability to go out and experiment with new ideas that push us forward to out desired goal.
(Describing the Habits of Mindset, 2008)
Taking risk will open new doors to your without you knowing. Its kind of like the phrase " you miss 100% of the shots you don't take". So if you don't take a risk you'll miss every chance you get. - Lando
Risk taking is a vital part of growing up and truly recognizing who you are as a person. When you take a risk and fail, depending on how you see and handle it, it could end up a valuable lesson learned. You won't learn what you are truly capable of until you're mentally ready to take a risk, accept failure and be better. -Jake
