This was a form of primary research because I had to do it myself and get information from people. This is helpful because it allows me to get specific ideas and views on my test sequences.
Test sequence 1 was a continuity sequence. This means that it followed and there were limited jump cuts. It was simple as I wanted to try a simple sequence for my first one and then try and add more affects into my second sequence. I thought a simple editing style might fit the beginning of the song because the song was relaxed to begin with. This means I could adapt the style of editing as the song goes to make the editing suit the song.
Test sequence 2 had a lot more going on than test sequence 1 because it has colour changes and fades to black throughout. I thought this editing style could build more suspense because it creates a mysterious atmosphere. For example, the black and white video is usually connotated with mysteriousness. And the fades to black make the sequence feel a bit dreamy as if the character is fading in and out of reality. 
I asked 3 questions:
- What engaged you?
- What made you lose focus?
- What would you change about these sequences?
I asked these questions because they forced a constructive answer out of the audience. Also, because they look at positive and negative aspects of the sequences. This is done because it heightens the narrative and creates a scary affect for the audience. This is more scary for the audience because a fade to black is usually connotated with negative and scary things. This is because fade to black is dark and darkness is usually scary. Also, the narrative of the music video is heightened through this fade to black because the fade to black foreshadows the bad things that are about to happen to the girl. This is because the creepy and bad things all happen after the fade to black. Therefore, the fade to black heightens the narrative of the music video and builds a sense of fear in the audience.

However, as the video progresses unusual and spooky things start to happen. The normal wake up scene suggests that this is a normal girl and what is happening to her is completely random. The test sequence was meant to be simple and not as experimental as the second test sequence because I wanted to see if the music video should be simple editing or more complex editing. There are a few jump cuts but overall I try keep continuity throughout. This can be shown by the use of cut on action when she is putting stuff in her bag. She starts putting stuff in and then it cuts to a new angle of her finishing the action.

At the end of the test sequence the screen sharply goes black.
