Hello, I am an English teacher at Brewer High School who also coaches boys varsity tennis. I also coach girls varsity soccer at Hampden Academy. I moved to Maine from Michigan after marrying my wife (we met in 7th grade). As an educator, I am in a continual state of refinement when it comes to making a more flipped classroom approach; the classroom use of technology coincides with this. Outside of the classroom, I am incessantly active with sports, bike riding, hiking, landscaping, and home improvements (Thank God for YouTube tutorials!).

Hello! I am gearing up to start my 24th year as an ELA teacher of 7th and 8th graders in Bangor. I completed as Masters degree way back in 2000 and I am currently working through a CAS program.

I have had the good fortune for many years now of having a 1:1 classroom with MacBooks, thanks to the MLTI program. In spite of this, I still feel like I'm stumbling around in the far outside lane when it comes to truly meaningful technology integration. I keep working on it, though, and I'm looking forward to sharing this opportunity with all of you.

I live in Bangor with my two children, a boy who is 9 and a girl who just turned five. Our latest adventure (and there's ALWAYS an adventure) is getting to know our 10 week old yellow lab puppy, Luke (as in Skywalker--he was born on May the 4th 😀 ).

Hi everyone!
I just ended my 10th year of teaching by making a big change! This past May, I took a leap and transitioned into the role of the K-8 Technology Integrator for RSU 71 (Belfast). After only a few weeks in my new position I knew I had made a good move. I felt like I had my creative "mojo" back! I am looking forward to starting the upcoming year in my new role.
I live just outside of Belfast with my husband and almost one year old son. In fact, I finished my last class with Johanna the day before I went into labor last summer :-) This summer, we will be starting to put an addition on our small home and will be doing much of the work ourselves (yikes!).

Hi! My name is Denise Churchill and I live in Fayette, Maine with my husband, John and my three fur babies (my husband says I’m a crazy cat lady). I have lived in Maine all my life and love this beautiful state. I have two adult children who I am super proud of. My son and his wife live in Seattle and my daughter and son-in-law live in Leeds, Maine.

This is my 37th year in education and I still love what I do. I began teaching elementary school in Waterville, Me. then took a position teaching 5th & 6th graders as part of a team in Readfield (RSU 38). When the new Maranacook Middle School opened in 2001, I “moved up” with my 6th graders. I have loved my years working with Middle Schoolers- every day has been an adventure! Starting this Fall I will be serving a new role- K-8 Technology Integrator. I am really excited about this change and look forward to learning ways to enhance students’ and teachers’ lives by embedding technology.

I feel fortunate to have this position as RSU#38 has always valued technology and has invested much in providing all our schools with cutting edge equipment and software. We have many innovative educators who I look forward to collaborating with. I am also looking forward to the fist week in August when I will be attending TeacherCon in Philadelphia. TeacherCon is a hands-on workshop focusing on computer science, coding, and code.org suite of tools.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, gardening, visiting family, and spending time outdoors. Enjoying a good read in the hammock is always rejuvenating as is a day spent on the lake fishing and boating.

We loop, so this will be the 8th grade year for me. We are very fotunate, as an MLTI school, my students have 1:1 Macbook Air laptops. I started my teaching career as a computer lab teacher/network administrator in a K-8 school and worked closely with classroom teachers to integrate technology into their lessons. As a social studies teacher, I love history and I love technology, so integrating them, sharing that passion and (hopefully) engaging my kids to make their learning more relevant is one of my main goals.

My husband, six year old daughter and I live in Farmingdale. That, in itself, is a full-time job.

I live in Appleton with my wife, two kids and one cat. This summer we had a chance to explore some canals in England on a 70’ long, 7’ wide canal boat for 10 days. An amazing time for all of us.

I work at the Appleton Village School and the Hope Elementary School as the technology coordinator. Plenty of new skills for me to learn and develop as I attempt to get a handle on the basics of small K-8 school tech needs.

I am looking forward to this class and the opportunity to learn some useful tips and procedures to bring back to my schools and the teachers I work with.

Hello!
I am a third grade teacher at Yarmouth Elementary School. I taught for ten years in Brooklyn, NY, before ending my exile and coming back home to Maine. I brought my wife, Heather, with me, and we've since started a family: Hazel, who just turned three, and Oscar and Rose, who will turn one in August. Life is very busy right now!
I've taught kindergarten and first grade, eighth-grade math, and K-8 technology in Brooklyn, and now third grade for the five years I've been at YES. I am a Technology Lead Teacher at YES, which essentially gives a formal name to all the informal things many of us do daily to help our colleagues with new and interesting ways to make technology work in the classroom. With help from colleagues I've introduced drones to our students, which has necessitated also introducing the art of drone repair.
I like outdoors activities, and love teaching a new board game to friends. We live in Yarmouth, in the house I grew up in. I look forward to meeting you all F2F, and learning from you together.

Hello everyone and happy summer! This fall, I'll be teaching third grade at Mt. Vernon Elementary School. I've taught first and second grade. I've also taught a K-3 behavior classroom. I'm really excited going into this school year for a couple of reasons. My fellow third grade teacher and I will be splitting teaching responsibilities. She will be doing math, social studies, and science and I will be doing reading, writing, spelling. We're both looking forward to focusing on specific content areas. I'm also looking forward to working in a district that embraces 21st century learning at an elementary level. Taking this class at the same time as I plan lessons and learn my new curriculum is energizing.
Our family lives in Augusta. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and we have a 20 year old daughter at college and a 9 year old son (who has kept me busier than I thought this summer reading, biking, going to the beach, hiking, playing games, and being a tourist in our own state). When I get "me" time, I like to garden, go to outdoor concerts, and read in the hammock.

Hello everyone,
Since 2013, I have been a second grade classroom teacher at Fairview Elementary School in Auburn, Maine. Before Fairview, I taught third grade for four years at Park Avenue in Auburn. At Park Avenue, I had the opportunity to work in a learning lab model with third and fourth graders needing remedial skills, as well as , students needing a gifted and talented curriculum.
After moving from Alabama to Connecticut and then back to Maine, I worked with seventh and eighth graders in Minot, Maine as a English and Language Arts instructor.
I live in Androscoggin county with my best friend and husband, Mark, of twenty-six years and our twenty-one year old son, Jesse, who recently returned home from the Army. My twenty-four year old daughter, Brooke lives in Maine as well. Our home is currently very active as I am training two puppies, a Border Collie and German Shepard named Amos and Samson.
I graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1991 with my B.S. in Elementary Education, and I'm currently working on my master's degree. During the summer of 2016, I took my first on-line course through the University of Maine, Technology Supported Inquiry-Based Teaching and Learning. This course introduced me to a dynamic learning process that has reenergized my instruction.
When I am not at work, I like to read, motorcycle, dance, garden, kayak, and hike thru the woods with family, friends, and my dogs.
I am a christian, daughter, sister, friend, wife, mom, teacher, and life time learner.
I love teaching students to reach their individual potential, understand their strengths, and celebrate their successes!
I look forward to networking with other educators at the Hutchinson Center to increase my utilization of instructional technology.
