As they have terrible night vision, they must hunt during the day: they lose the element of surprise, so their prey can run away. Once the cheetah has spotted his/her prey she stalks it. Tall grass is essential here. Fortunately for the cheetah, the places where her favoured prey gather to drink are typically surrounded by tall grass. Once close enough, the cheetah uses her electrifying speed to launch a surprise ambush.
