Today we will be telling you how Ox Bow Lakes form. It all starts when a meander continues to erode and on the outer area and deposit sediments and pther parts of its’ load in the inner areas. This process continues and continues and the more and more is deposited as more and more is eroded. Eventually a new straight, dominant line is formed that the rivers chooses to travel through for efficiency. This leaves the past meander not being used by the water and the river’s load being deposited infront of it until it is it’s own independent lake that looks like a horse shoe, it is called an Ox Bow Lake.

Alex and Favour

In this answer we will be discussing how the ox bow lake are formed.Firstly the Ox bow starts as a meander, the gaps a wide at first but later it starts to narrow because of erosion(hydraulic action and abrasion etc). The river gets so narrow that it cuts off and the water goes to the easiest path.

Areej and fatimah
In this answer I will be telling you how an oxbrow lake is formed. An oxbrow lake is found in the old stage of a river. When a meander is formed, erosions hits the outer bank and deposition hits the inner side of the bank, due to this the rivers bend go into each other and the river decides to go through the straight path

When meanders curve, they erode the bank. When the bank erodes dramatically over time, the meander gets cut off. Very little water goes into the horse shoe shaped meander and the current is very slow. The stream decides to take the dominant path then. When the river is in the old stage, it gets tired and drops of its load in front of the horse-shoe shaped meander cutting it off from the river. This creates a Ox-Bow Lake.
