Definition
The Confirmation Bias red flag refers to the tendency of someone to interpret new evidence as proof of beliefs they already hold, while disregarding or avoiding evidence that would contradict this belief.
Connection:
This link to Fox News website leads to a page dedicated to articles and videos dedicated to the Border Wall that the current American Administration is attempting to build. The news that is linked here is overwhelmingly in favor of the wall, to the degree that an individual who's only news source was Fox News would think that there is little to no legitimate opposition to this idea. One should apply skepticism here, as no political movement is without opposition, and a smart consumer should venture out and gather information from a number of sources.

Definition
The Red flag All Natural refers to a process or item that contains no artificial parts. Often it is made to seem better because it is All Natural.

Connection:
In this website, the cosmopolitan attempts to use the All Natural red flag to sell skin care products. The site claims that synthetic chemicals are potentially bad, and that these natural products are better for you. The easy connection to make here is that money is being made from these products, and a limitation to watch out for is the lack of scientific evidence in the article supporting their claim.

Definition:
The Suppression by Authority red flag is defined by the belief that there is a truth that is being suppressed by some leading figure or caste. Often this is the government or some large corporation.

Connection:
This link is to a Reddit community dedicated to conspiracy theories, with this one is particular being about the suppression by the Reddit administrators deleting stories regarding Hillary Clinton. As important as that would be if it were true, and it could be, is to use critical thinking and ask yourself who is on the other side and is trying to create controversy. The article in question was actually on display in many subreddits, however conspiracy theorists are convinced that it is some authority or another manipulating the system.

Definition:
The Red Flag Red Herring refers to the act of distracting from real criticisms of a belief with other ideas or questions.

Connection:
In this video, Donald Trump is asked what his plan was to combat environmental damage, and he derails the question by changing the topic to if the audience believes in global warming or not. This connects with the class through the Ideology reason for belief, as instead of providing evidence for his statements regarding climate change, he simply states his belief and encourages others to follow on the basis of his movement.

Definition:
Proof by Verbosity is the act of 'proving' a belief by making an argument too complex or convoluted to be refuted, as each point can not be reasonably addressed.

Connection:
This video breaks down the interview tactics of Kellyanne Conway. One of her tactics is to use Proof by Verbosity to derail or avoid tough questions when doing television interviews. The Critical Thinking process, and especially evaluation should be used to determine the merit of the ideas being presented. If a listener was not paying attention to the questions being asked, one might miss that the question was side-stepped.

Definition:
Our observations and beliefs warp the way we perceive and remember events. Recalling things from memory is often flawed or untrustworthy.
Connection:
The Mandela Effect is an interesting conspiracy wherein the way you remember an event is different than the reality. Believers in the Mandela effect say that this is because you experienced a different reality than the one we live in. This relates to the pseudoscience watchlist because there is no way to verify that another reality existed except for the fact that a fact may have been recalled incorrectly.
