I personally liked the sugar skulls unit since it was the first unit to incorporate many photoshop tools without the crutch of tracing over the template; when I initially started the assignment I was worried about my skull being symmetrical while having the template on another photoshop document, but I learned to trust my gut and to follow my hand’s guide. Like many of my other assignments and art styles, I prefer my art to have a specific color palette and style to create order in the work. My sugar skull was perfect (in my eyes) since both line art and details were mathematically symmetrical on each side. To build off of that idea, in my recent modifications of my sugar skull, I recreated the poorly drawn gradient pattern I had on the large flower petals with an actual gradient and filled in the missing color gaps alongside the line art of the teeth. I like looking back on that assignment compared to our latest units because it shows how much I focus on details more than the quantity of work. While I do finish my pieces, I like to work closely in relation to the pixels and image size to clean up the line work and add small details others in class would rather skip over. It’s sad to think the sugar skulls were almost eight months ago compared to the last couple days of school working on our portfolios. I love looking at how I’ve grown and learned over this course and how I benefited from finding my own ways to solve problems with photoshop. 

I decided to fix up my pieces for my portfolio to show my mastery in photoshop considering I’ve grown to be an overachiever throughout the year. Many of my pieces didn’t need work besides the ones I was disinterested in, but I enjoyed working on them the past week since I added and tweaked them to fit my newer, detailed style of artwork.
