The tents were really quick to put up which made setting up camp quicker. I liked cooking my own food, but cleaning the pots and pans with so little water was not fun. Borrowing the sleeping pad was really useful because it allowed my bag to stand up when I set it down and it was very light.

    The campfire at the end was amazing, the beach campfire and sand is a vibe.

Do we really need a 30-minute explanation on how to build the tents? 5 minutes would suffice, we have experience, and can learn by doing. The constant lecturing came off as a bit patronizing. And though I understand the need, if it would be possible I would advise toning that down, at least with the 8th grade.

For example, i felt as if we spent more time prepping for a hike than going on a hike.


    While yes, it is important to make sure that no one is lost etc. i feel, as do many that most of the times we absorb the needed instructions the first time.
