I think that Stanley is responsible for the death of 10,000,000 Congolese people because of his motive and how he supported the killing of the people. This piece of evidence is important because it shows how all he wanted through taking control and gaining power over Congo was the fame that would come along with it. He wanted others to fear and seem him as a wealthy and powerful figure in Africa but also throughout the world. Stanley also took away rules that had already been in place and created a new system for the Congolese people that led them to suffer and experience tragic events, he forced them to become slaves and do hard labor.
