Schools can now submit the students' activities and reflections in softcopies. In the past, submissions were done in hardcopy booklets. However, some schools prefer submissions in softcopies, so teachers from these schools created their own 'E-booklets' for submissions.

To help teachers who prefer softcopies, the NYAA council is in the midst of creating E-booklets for schools. So schools can now have the option of submitting E-booklets instead of sending the physical booklets to the NYAA council.

If schools were to come onboard in June 2024, activities can only be backdated by 1-2 months. This means that the earliest acceptable activities will be those done from April 2024 onwards.

The NYAA council understands the tremendous workload teachers currently have. The first step is to let your teachers see that there is no need to think of new activities to help students meet the requirements. Instead, together with the team of teachers in your school, think and map the existing programmes that your students are currently doing or will be doing to the different categories of the BA programme to see if it's enough to meet the criteria. If it's not enough, you can make use of the 'NYAA Holiday Pack' to get the students do the activities on their own.

Next, let the teachers know that their job is to check if the students met the minimum criteria (e.g. 4 different activities, 8 hrs, over more than 4 months and ensure that students did the reflections.) There is no need to read and check the students' reflections for their language etc. As long as the students follow the guiding questions in the slides. They should do fine.

Yes, parents can register their child/ children for the programme as 'Individual Participants' via the link attached. The assessor will be the parents and NYAA will verify the activities. Evidence for all activities must be given in the form of photographs.

If the school is ready, students from the P2 level can participate in the programme. However, the earliest they can complete the programme and be awarded is in P3.

It depends. If the project covers different categories, students will record a max of 2hrs for each category.

Example:

If students went out to learn about biodoversity at a nature reserve, they can record 2hrs under Outdoor Appreciation. If students shared what they have learnt about biodiversity in the nature reserves with the school/ community, they could record 2hrs under Service Learning.

It is not a condition for schools to collaborate with NYAA for projects. Schools can just register their students for the NYAA BA programme without any project collaboration. The collaboration that NYAA had with North Spring and West Spring Primary Schools is an additional support that NYAA provides to develop the students.

Yes, that's the criteria. The activities should be done over a period of more than 4 months. We would like the students to learn at their own pace and not rush through the programme.

As we only officially started the NYAA Junior Programme in 2022, we have not had project partnerships with other primary schools other than North Spring and West Spring Primary Schools since the launch.

If students volunteer at 2 different places, it will be considered 2 different activities.

Example:

If student A volunteers at ABC senior activity centre and then volunteers at XYZ senior activity centre. Student A can record a max of 2hrs for each location. In this case, student A would have clocked a max of 4hrs for Service Learning.

For these students, they will do the family bonding activities with their guardians or caregivers or distant relatives (e.g. aunties, uncles, and cousins.). The idea is for them to foster relationships with their family/ relatives. If there are special cases, please let me know. I will advise accordiningly.

Yes, the sample will be in the slides which will be shared with all teachers who have attended the session within the week.

Only for P5 Camp (Outdoor Appreciation), students just need to have 1 reflection. This reflection should have details of the student's experience as well as the various values and skills they have learnt from the P5 camp.

Activities like trekking, hiking, heritage trails can be recorded under either outdoor appreciation or family bonding. The same activity cannot be recorded more than once.

So, it depends on the main objective of the activity. E.g. If the child's objective is to spend some quality time with the family by taking on a heritage trail, then the activity should be recorded under 'Family Bonding'.

Yes, SEPs can be considered a Healthy Living activity.

Only activities done after the students have registered for the programme can be included. However, we allow activities to be backdated no more than 2 months. E.g. if a student registers in Jan 2025, we can allow the students to record activities from Nov 2024 onwards.

Yes, participants are free to partake in these activities at their own time with friends and family and they need not be organised by the school or a community organisation.
