i still recall putting up sc posters during my elections period, and asking uncle if it was ok for me to put it in front of his stall. from then on, whenever i came to his stall, he called me cheng mama (because my campaign group was cheng mama 😭😭😭)

i loved going to the stall and asking him if i could get mango sago. and on the days there was no mango sago, he would give me a whole list of other recommendations based on the other drinks i ordered before. he was such a precious person in my dhs experience, and i'm sure he was a blessing in the dhs experience of many others too 🤍

im forever buying drink from uncles stall. me and my friend took schoolbus to sch, so we were always early, and for two years-ish, we wld buy drinks first thing in the morning from uncle’s store and sit the benches opposite his stall to game or do work or chitchat. it was so frequent that uncle knew our order before we even ordered… every morning without fail uncle wld always be happy and smiling and greeting us, sometimes we wld chitchat a little. and it was touching when i went back to visit after i graduated and uncle still remembered me and my go to order, he remembered the friends i was with too and asked about how they were doing 🥹 little things like these really made my day back then and i always enjoyed going to his stall to get drinks, and seeing his stall open during sats or sch holidays wld make my day immediately better (even tho i was kinda unhappy about needing to go sch)

unlce, i didnt know your name until now and i doubt you know mine. it’s saddening to hear that you have passed on and you wont be there anymore when i visit dhs. dunman high and going to school wasn’t that fun for me but i’ll forever remember you, who made school life more enjoyable and positive. thank you so much, rest well uncle 🙏🏻

Thank you for always greeting us with a smile, always cracking jokes that would make us laugh, always remembering who I was and serving the absolute best iced milos and thai milk teas. glad i got to see you one last time. it was heartening to see so many dunmanians come back to say goodbye, and even more so to know that you’ve touched so many of our hearts just by selling drinks at stall 16.

i had many fond memories in dunman, and you were one the best ones. whether i was finishing training or mugging in the canteen, you were always there, ready to provide me with my favourite oreo milo. i remember the time you let me cut the queue from the back of the store when i was in a rush, personally bringing my drink out from the front of the store. i remember the time you let me pay for my drink another day when i forgot to bring my wallet to school, and all the times you had my order ready without me saying a word. those were things i took for granted and i wish i had gone back to dunman more often to visit you.

After reading all the notes written down by the other dunmanians, all i can say is that it is really really heartwarming to witness the impact you had on the many generations of dunmanians, it was truly no small feat. For me personally, your infectious smile and energy lifted my mood each day, as you not only took the effort remembered each one of us and our orders, but also engaged in small talk with us whenever the queue wasn't busy. These gestures might have seemed small, but i think i can speak for all dunmanians here that it really made each one of us feel more loved and cared for, and the presence of such feelings can have an impact more so than one would think especially during one’s growing up years.

Life is fleeting, we all know that, but i know that you’ve really lived life to the fullest.

earlier this year I came back to school and managed to buy a drink and have a chat with you. I never was extroverted enough to get close to you, but you always were a familiar face that I could always look forward to whenever I came back to school. I wondered why I didn’t see you in school last month, and I didn’t manage to see you off earlier today. but like all the other Dunmanians past and present, we will always hold you in our hearts.

thank you for always going above and beyond for us. I was reading through the other messages that Dunmanians have left for you, and I can’t seem to hold my tears back. you’ve made such an emotional impact to our journeys in Dunman High, and it’s a shame the future batches won’t get to see your cheery smile at the drink stall. but I suppose that’s a privilege that us old people will get to cherish.

i hardly ever buy sweet drinks, bottled drinks, canned drinks - i think the total number of drinks that i have bought from your stall over my six years can be counted on two hands - and yet you still were a key figure in my life in dhs that made my schooling experience that much brighter.

thank you for giving my basketball team ice when we got injured during training. thank you for letting me and my friends hide our bballs in your stall before we got our own lockers in senior high. thank you for asking after me when you thought i looked stressed (even if i was simply accompanying a friend who was buying a drink or when i passed by the stall). thank you for storing the many birthday cakes that have brought smiles to my friends' faces.

thinking back i regret now that i have never even asked once for your birthday - even though your fridge has housed so many birthday cakes. we'll have to remember the date you left us instead, which we will do dutifully.

with your departure, you remind me of the harsher realities of growing up. even so, i want to thank you for being a constant in our youth. even in your final moment you have brought together so many students, alumni, and teachers, who are missing you with heavy hearts.

when I heard the news, I was brought back to your smile that greeted me after all the tiring training and studying sessions and your cheerful energy that never failed to cheer me up. I’m sure this isn’t just my experience but a shared one among the dhs community. we have all somehow naturally returned your smile, drank your delicious drinks and been impacted by your kindness. thank you for being such an integral part of our school life, adding so much light (be it through the small talks or remembering our orders) to our environment and our lives.

we never made small talk and i didn't frequent your store as often as others, but somehow you would remember my order and have it ready before i could even pull out my cash. thank you for always greeting us with so much warmth and always making my day a little brighter just over such a short interaction. during my 6 yrs in dhs, not once did i see uncle without a smile.

i rmb the drinks store being closed for quite a long period of time, and i wondered if there was something wrong with uncle. but you must have been sick by then, right? afterwards, the store reopened and uncle seemed so full of vitality i never sensed something was amiss. i don't know how uncle did it, masking all that pain behind that smile.

im genuinely distraught to hear about your passing, and i only wish i could have returned to dhs one more time before you left, just to buy a drink from you again. may you rest in peace and i hope you will no longer be in pain wherever you are. your spirit will always be with us.

the beautiful thing is that i am not special in this regard. uncle treated everyone with the same amount of consideration and care and he never ran out of love to give. and it shows in all the dunmanians with endless stories about how uncle has been such a joyous presence in our school lives.

i regret not telling you how important that was to me. in those 6 difficult years, when i struggled to accept myself, your genuine smile and dedicated memory always felt like: "it's okay that you're not doing well, it's okay that you're not the student you thought you'd be, you're still important, you're still worthy of remembering"

U were a key figure in shaping student’s lives. Always the first store to open and last to close in school just so students can get their morning coffee or can have a drink during our night study. Somehow you were always involved in our birthday surprises and it’s nice to think back fondly how you were always so eager to help us out by hiding the cakes in the fridges. Am also really grateful at how you were always so so supportive of our student initiatives, always agreeing with whatever ideas we had and letting us carry out our plans even if it may inconvenience you or your business.

Such interactions have changed my school life for the better and it feels very different now knowing that you are resting at a better place and won’t be serving drinks to the dunmanian family. We will remember you fondly thank u uncle!!

it has been 5 years since i graduated but every single time that i come back (and regardless of who i come back with), one of our first thoughts would always be - “Is the drink stall open today?” “Will the drink stall uncle be here?” That was how big of a role you played in our lives in DHS.

reading everyone’s stories brought back a floodgate of memories: you were always there when i needed a quick drink during / after PE, or after a long day of classes - your peach tea and warm smile never fail to brighten my day. these brief daily encounters and conversations somehow grew to become an integral and fond part of my memories here.

this hurts a lot to write as i lost my grandfather a few months back. thank you for making me feel accepted and welcomed. despite knowing you for such a short time, i could tell that you had a heart of gold. you made the effort to recognise your regular customers, and it took u just a few weeks to recognise me. none of the other staff in school has been able to make me feel as accepted as you did. maybe you didnt know that i was a jae student, but i wish i could tell you how much your service has made an impact to my life in dhs. enjoy heaven, you deserve all the good things there, protect your beloved family from up above. 有缘再见

记得我没次每次到Stall 16那边买水的时候，都是这样称呼你。毕业前这样，毕业后也如此。

记得疫情期间，我趁着大学还没开始时，偷偷地回到学校来探望大家一面。记得当时，在口罩的掩护下，老师大多数的不怎么认得我了，而你还清晰记得我的样子，记得我已经毕业了，还记得问了我最近还过得怎样。

转眼间，四年过去了，我也正好刚从大学毕业。本来想和以前一样，回去德明探望各位老师，还有那些当年和我在食堂里有说有笑的Uncle Aunty，其中也当然包括了你在內。只可惜，最后一次遇见你的时候，也只能停止在4年前了。

I will always remember how the drink store is always open when I arrive in school for meetings at the canteen at 6.40 in the morning. Without fail, I will always be able to pick up an ice green tea to start my morning right.

Beyond the comfort from the drinks you prepare, it’s always so heartwarming to be greeted by you in an energetic and cheerful tone in the morning. You never fail to make mornings more bearable for me.

Thank you for also being so gracious and entering our requests to borrow your fridge whenever we need to store items. You were always part of our birthday surprises and I can’t imagine what the canteen will be without you!

hello uncle. i will always miss you. From your oreo milos to your sjoras where inspired me to make sjora my entire personality. you were always so kind and generous, you were the only uncle in the entire canteen every time when i forget to bring my wallet down you would always let me off the hook and allow me to pay next time or even when im short of 20c you would let me off and you would pay for me. everytime i come in the morning i would see the brightest smile ever greeting me with either 帅哥 or 老板好。it was a small compliment but looking back it made me smile everyday hearing a compliment everyday from the same person. and everytime after my cca you would allow me to refill ice from your stall specially reserved for me which i appreciated soso much <3. I remember that one time after my Cca it was very late and your stall was closing but you actually opened up your stall again to get me a cup of sjora. thank you uncle i will forever miss whatever you have done for me and your store and yourself will always have a special place in my heart. thank you uncle.

Thank you so much for bringing such joy to every dunmanian’s life, fromallowing us to use your fridge to making small talk with everyone. You never fail to brighten up our day whether it’s early in the morning or late at night after CCA.

I will always remember coming to you for coffee every single morning at 650am back when I was Year 6 and you would automatically pour a cup for me. That brought so much joy in my half-awaken state.

Sad that I never got the chance to come back and say hi again, wish I could. Rest well and we may just see each other in our next one!

I am greatly saddened that we have lost a deeply cherished part of many of our schooling lives. Thank you for all that you've done uncle ❤️

Thank you for always being a ray of sunshine for us dunmanians in school! I always looked forward to my fave milo bing and our little conversations because you make each of us feel special — by somehow remembering what’s going on in each of our lives. It always felt nice to go to ur shop after air weapons training and you’d ask training 刚完啊? Or when we stay late for SC and u tell us to jiayou 😢😢 Stall 16 was always my comfort place even after i graduated and came back to visit. Thank you uncle for being like our guardian angel during our 6 years in dunman and even after we graduated. 一路好走!

昨夜在你的灵堂前，有无数的在籍学生和校友，单是我认识的篮球员就有十位以上。我跟你不熟，昨晚到灵堂除了是陪孩子去送你最后一程，也是想給我的 Drink Stall Uncle 一份微不足道的慰藉。没想到，你让我上了宝贵的一堂课。。。。

Thank you so much for everything… You were one of the best people of dhs. You never failed to smile and it was always so comforting to see your stall still open when we end trainings. Even when I didn’t have enough cash, you were always so nice to let me pay you back the next time.

it’s been a few years since i graduated from

dunman high but i still remember your warm greetings and bright smile every time i enter the canteen :) from hectic recesses to quiet nights studying late in school, you’ve always been there, and i hope you know how big of an impact you’ve had on so many of our lives <3 you ran the best drink store ever and even when i reminisce about school with my friends, we always talk about your milo peng, or the nonsense drinks created like “genius” and “stupid”. you were such a fond memory of my school life, working hard every day, but i hope you’re resting well now. rest in peace uncle steven! you are definitely dearly missed :”)

My memory's not the best but i'll always remember your smile as you greet us. Your drinks were awesome! I also remember you keeping the stall open until 8pm or so for the senior high students doing night study. I was hoping that i could still say hi to you when i had the chance the go back to dhs, but things rarely turn out the way it's planned. Rest in peace, and God bless :')

Thanks for always being around even when its late to serve us drinks. Your smile and enthusiasm always lifts our spirits up whenever we're feeling down and the dunman high experience would never be complete without you. It's been awhile since I went back and I wished that I could have visited your stall more often. I still remember the times of ordering the off the menu items like a stupiak or a oreo milkshake and how I had to order ice in bulk from you to set up the ice bath for my track team. Thank you for the memories and serving me mogu mogus for 6 years. Rest in peace and I hope that you're in a better place now.

thank you, for being one of the main reasons why i loved coming to school so much: getting to talk to you and hear about your stories, talking to you about my 心事 and just being able to be in the presence of pure joy and positivity. i know we always say that we come to you for drinks, but it's not an exaggeration to say that buying drinks became an experience for us. thank you for bringing so much light and laughter into our lives. uncle steven, i hope you are proud of us, please watch us and take care of us from above. most importantly, take care of yourself.

It pains me to learn of how a familiar face is gone just like that. You're forever smiling, friendly and always greeted me “老师好”. I enjoyed the short conversations we've always had whenever I come by to buy your drinks. I grew up in DHS as a student buying drinks from your father, Uncle Ah Hee, and subsequently, from you. Thanks for always preparing all the wonderful, fun and interesting drinks for all the Dunman High population. I always ask, "今天有什么特别的好料“ and you'd give your recommendation. You're always game enough to let me try the different weird ways of mixing various drink and you're obliging to it. My favourite ended up ”咖啡加奶茶“。 Thank you for remembering my favourite, "Yuan Yang Nai Cha" and going beyond to mix the two drinks for me. I missed having that. Thank you for also having such trust in us, allowing us to 'put on credit' the drinks whenever we don't have the cash on hand, believing that we'd come by to return the credit. I will miss your cheerful, friendly smiles and the small conversations whenever I pass by. Your presence made a difference in all these years I'm here at DHS. You will be missed dearly.

昨天和朋友聊到，6年的德明生活可能会遇到很多不同的老师和同学，但drinks stall uncle 确是每一届德明人都统一喜爱的人。

我以前经常找你买巧克力，你每次看到我就知道要给我拿Kinder Bueno，谢谢你记得每一个像我这样的德明npc。

在听到你离开的消息后，我去翻了以往记录过你的素材，发现你真的是dhsmcs的regular cast,每年都会出现在新年视频里面哦，很开心能够以这样的方式记录下你的dhs moments。

昨晚去参加完你的追思礼拜，看到好多Dunmanians，很多甚至是放学穿着校服来的学弟学妹们。

听你的爸爸讲昨天德明的学生来不停，包括很多老师也来，十几年前毕业的也有。这让我们看到Uncle Steven is loved by so many Dunmanians，因为他本身在工作中所注入的喜乐和热爱感染着每一个Dunmanian。

some of my fondest memories of school are of you and the drink stall. you always remembered me and my order (kopi peng 小杯不要冰). and when I started asking you to fill my small plastic bottle with coffee to be environmentally friendly you insisted on charging me less because my bottle was smaller than the cup. at one point I was drinking multiple cups in an afternoon and every time you'd look at me concerned and say 读书很辛苦hor. it wasn't just coffee, I'd drink your milo after PE and beancurd in the evenings. I'd buy six packets of tissue at once because lecture hall air is terrible and I couldn't stop sneezing and you'd ask if I was sick and tell me to take care of myself. so many of memories of school are anchored to you and your stall. during the final days of A levels I heard the shutters of your stall closing for the last time until school reopened and I felt a sense of loss that even graduation didn't evoke in me. it didn't occur to me to say goodbye then, nor the one time I went back to school and bought your coffee for old time's sake. so, here I am now, belated as it is, to say thank you, and goodbye.

I never knew you were also a believer of Christ until this happened, so while it pains me to know that a face as familiar as yours in my 6 important years of development as an individual in DHS, is no longer with us, i’m thankful that we will meet again where there’s no pain, in heaven with Jesus.

Thank you uncle for everything. I remember confiding in you when i was briefly bullied at some point in school, when i had relationship problems, albeit not deeply but just glazing past these happenings, you were always supportive and more than just an uncle selling me my daily ice coffee at 630am. You made my life better and tough days in school more joyful. I will never forget you and I know you are in a better place. See you soon, Uncle and God bless you ✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨

even though ive known you for a few years, this is the first time ive really gotten to know your name. i think it's such a pity that i have to find out this way, but i hope you are in a better place now. its still difficult to believe that you're gone, because the last time we saw you you had been perfectly fine and healthy. it just feels like yesterday when we joked and I bought milo from you! your stall was always the last to close and the only one i could get a snack from after late hours. we'll miss you a lot as a school. condolences to your family, and your father who also continued the stall in your absence. can't stress this enough but we will miss you, many people will. ❤️

i still remember how we would always put cakes in your fridges because we wanted to celebrate our friend's birthday but didn't have any place to freeze the cake. you are such a cheerful and kind person, and that really stuck with me, and it's a shame later generations of dunmanians won't get to know your happy soul. hope you rest in peace, and that your family finds strength to get through this. goodbye!

I remembered the first time I saw you back in DHS open house. You were the first few people I interacted with, and even before I was a Dunmanian I could already feel the warmth and care you have for students and anybody that bought from your stall. It was part of the reason why I even joined this school, as I felt cared for and loved at every turn. Soon, you became a daily visit for me, a place of comfort through all the hardships of studying and CCAs and everything else. Its truly remarkable how you remembered so many students' orders by heart, and taking the time to understand us and learn about us not just as students but as people. The daily short conversation with you was something I looked forward to, especially so when I visit after graduating. I was thankful that I came back frequently last year so that I could still catch up with you while you were still working.

Reading through all of these posts showcased the impact you had on so many generations of Dunmanians. Your passion and heart to serve is something that shaped us slightly one way or another. It hurts even more to know that you're gone as you were an image of strength and comfort to so many. Through all the long days you stayed, I've never once seen you tired, angry, frustrated. Instead, your bright smile and comforting voice would always be there to greet me. It's time for you to rest now uncle, and I hope you know that us Dunmanians will do you proud and continue to live on the legacy you tirelessly left behind for us. 一路好走, Uncle Steven.

Even after graduating from DHS 8 years ago, I still have fond memories of your cheerful and smiling face while serving us drinks. Even when I forgot to bring my wallet or money, you always trusted me to pay you back next time, I really appreciated that kind gesture you extended to me and it made me feel warm inside. It's always so nice to chat with you sometimes, and you would always be willing to find ways to sell us our favourite drinks even when they're banned, just to make us happy. We will always remember you as a bright spot in our lives and keep you in our hearts and memories. Thank you for always bringing us joy and I hope you find peace, wherever you are now. <3

I always frequent auntie's stall more, but I'm always dumbfounded of how you always remember the little interactions we have and always banter with me on our past memories. When I come to quickly get a drink for myself (or the large 1.5L bottles for my juniors), you always make our interactions so light and memorable for me to ponder about for the rest of the day, and even though I expect to leave in a rush, I always leave with at least a smile on my face or that tiny glimmer of happiness or peace that is hard to find in the pace of how everything moves. Looking back, I realise that uncle Steven is more than just a drink store uncle, but a teacher to many and a friend to more.

You left a strong impressionable legacy on what it means to be a Dunmanian. and everyone of us will remember that. 一路顺风 and God bless your ascent. (come visit us for caiqing please lion dance will miss you)

Every morning you opened your shop the earliest and closed the latest. When I reached school at 7, half-asleep from having to take the early school bus, you would unfailingly greet me in the same positive, chirpy tone.

"the usual?"

I would nod my head, as he poured my sugary, yet heavenly concoction. he always watched me sip my coffee as I played brawl stars while I listened to music on my headphones, noise-cancelling on. his 冷咖啡1块 that was always consistently in stock kept me awake through my schooling days from y1 to y6.

every time after PE, we would race to stall 16, mostly dismayed to find that the long snaking queue had already started. it was one of the little joys in the day to see the counter empty at recess time. lost in conversation with friends as we waited for Milo.

during sectionals, we would sneak off from the music rooms, traversing half the school just to reach the canteen to see the familiar bright lights radiating from the store. hurriedly ordering a drink from eeny-miny-meeny-more, we would race off again with chicken patty in one hand and drink in another back to the MPRs (music practice rooms) to avoid getting caught.

When I came to Dunman for DSA interviews, my first ever interaction with someone in the school was at Stall 16, with Uncle showing me the dazzling array of colours, neatly-shelved drinks and bottles, leaving me spoilt for choice. I remember remarking to my parents that I wanted to go to Dunman because of the "amazing canteen". No matter 6:30am or 6:30pm, the first day of school or graduation day, I knew I could count on the fact that someone would happily greet me with a "Hello! What drink you want?". When I felt alone as a small 14-year-old kid in a sea of buildings, ostracised by classmates and trying desperately to fit into social circles, our small conversation about "how's school going?" took my mind off those worries, even if it was momentary. When it felt like the world was crashing down and I felt like I was fighting fire after fire at y6, lost in an identity crisis, sometimes that 咖啡 was that little solace.

I wish I had put down my headphones more (brawl stars could always wait). I wish that I told you more about our epic balling games and intense matches. I wish that I had just stayed that little while longer to chat with you beyond just the small talk, telling you about our conniving plan to escape from the MPRs. The stupid, naive kid I was, I took your presence for granted. I assumed that Stall 16 as we know it will always be around. The one store amongst a midst of changing ones that remained constant, the one that remained and will remain open, that'll greet me as I entered the canteen after December holidays, after Circuit Breaker, after graduation. The store that acted like an oasis of life in the empty school during Night Study Programme or Saturday morning CCA rehearsals.

That's why when I came back after graduation for a routine alumni event, I was heartbroken to find that Stall 16 was closed for a few months. I knew that the Dunman today was no longer the Dunman I had grown up in. Had I known that the last time I went back may be the last time Stall 16 was open, maybe I would have bought something a little more than just a milo. I hope that the eternal beings will treat you with the same sweetness as that 咖啡 every morning, the same sweetness that you've shown me as you watched me find my footing, and the same undying sweetness that you showed to generations, and generations of Dunmanians.

It’s a bit hard to believe that I’m learning your name only 8 years after I’ve graduated in this way… you’ve always been affectionately referred to as “uncle!!” by most of us, and you chat with so many dunmanians in such an affable manner that we never needed to know each others’ names to feel close. You’re one of the first few faces I see in school on days that I reach before 7.30am in the morning. I’ll always remember my eyes closing and feeling so sleepy, until I see you setting up your store, where I’m automatically greeted with a wide smile on your face and your cafe latte jug in my hand, ready to pour me a cup. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness to all of us alike, for your unwavering presence throughout my 6 years in DHS and for greeting us with a wide smile no matter how bad the school day was. You’re definitely one of the reasons why we love recess even more! I wish you happiness and peace wherever you are, and I hope that whoever you may be with, they know that they’ve gained a treasured soul!

Thank you for your service to the school for over 20 years. Thank you for loving the school and years of its students. I am sure everyone felt your love for the school and for us. You were memories of many generations and well loved by batches of Dunmanians. I am deeply saddened that I only got to know about you after you have passed. I am grateful for you even though I was only in DHS for 2 years. Rest in Peace.

Although I graduated 6 years ago but I can still remember your bright smile. During my dhs days, I would always order weird concoctions from you and get you to help keep my cakes in your refrigerator. Thank you for always fulfilling my weird requests without hesitation. I have always felt amazed that you can rmb our usual orders or faces even after we have graduated. I rmb when I returned back to dhs to visit a few years after graduating, you saw me and said “回德明了啊”. Safe to say, there will be many teachers and classmates coming and going out of your life, but drink stall uncle will always be a constant to all dunmanians. Thank you for making my (and countless batches of dunnanians’) days in dhs brighter.

it is so hard to believe that someone who was serving us drinks at stall 16 happily just last year is no longer with us. I will never forget your enthusiasm after we finished PE and our CCA and were dying to have drinks, where you had a bright smile on your face and would greet us with such energy. You were one of the brightest and most friendly person in our school and I will never forget all the moments that were shared with you. I will definitely miss seeing you every day during recess and ordering our favourite drinks from you. I wish you happiness and peace wherever you are.

it's honestly sad that i only got to know your name now, and i never got the chance to see you after graduating. although i only spent 2 years in dhs, your presence was definitely one of the unforgettable highlights. i deeply admire and appreciate the cheerfulness and patience with which you greet each student; your positivity was truly a beacon every recess. i remember when i first came to dhs, marvelling at the affordable prices of the drinks stall. in the beginning, i even kept giving you extra money out of habit, but you would smilingly return the rest. although my orders would vary, you amazingly figured out some sort of pattern that i myself still don't know, guessing my order before i know it myself. your memory must be amazing, and your heart, even more so. just as you kept all of us in your heart, so will every dunmanian remember you fondly. take care, and see you on the other side one day.

i’ve already cried for the past few days so this is gonna be a more light hearted post hehe! :) thank you for being my friend in dunman; you never failed to cheer me up with your infectious smile & laughter. thank you for teaching me how to be a better person, and for always caring about my schooling days. i remember vividly feeling kinda emotionless during graduation day, but i cried as soon as i bought that last milo and took that last video of you. thank you for being family in your little ways. thank you for always remembering my milobuyaopeng order, lending me a listening ear, & making my day 1% better everyday. i hope that we dunmanians have touched your life even just 1% the way you did to us, because that is already so so much.

i miss you a lot uncle, i always told myself to have no regrets in life but not going back to find you after 4 years would always be one of the greater regrets i’ll carry for life.

For the 5 years in DHS, there was never a week I wouldn't to buy a cup of iced milk tea or Milo from your stall. Your smile and cheerfulness has no doubt brightened everyone's days and created wonderful memories of our time in DHS. Thank you for sharing your happiness and love with us. Rest in Peace and 一路好走。

I will always remember the warmth you brought to my schooling life at DHS. You were more than just a drinks stall uncle - you were a great teacher to many of us, imparting life lessons on optimism, generosity and sincerity. I remember there were days where I did not have my wallet with me and you would chirpily say ‘不要紧！以后再还！’

一路走好. You will be missed.

Many tears were shed over the last few days, and you will be missed by generations of past and present Dunmanians alike. You were always cheerful and ready to serve us drinks, remembering our frequent orders, names and CCAs regardless of how often we visited the stall. As if that was not enough, you would also stay late to not leave the night study/CCA students behind, and let us keep things in the fridge or your stall if we needed the space. There were many other things you did, like reopening the shutters to serve the last couple of students when they wanted to get a drink, giving us ice for free, and letting us pay on credit and much more.

Even though I have graduated many years ago, I will always remember my favorite ribena order and the familiar sight of you filling 2 cups of drinks at once to keep up with the snaking queues during peak hours. While everyone who has heard the news must be devastated, I think we are also heartened to know that you are dearly remembered by all who ever met you. Thank you for brightening up everyone's life, and your story will be one that I am happy to pass down to my future students to tell them that humble professionals like you are also the unsung heroes of our community.

There will be a void in school now, but we all hope you didn't suffer too much at the end - it is over now and you can rest easy! To Uncle and his family, take care and wishing that you all remain in good health during these incredibly rough times. Sending love and support <3

uncle, you were such an important constant in dunman high, that i only realised after you stopped serving the drinks in stall 16. your friendliness, small talks, smile, energy, speed, will always be remembered in our hearts. you were here since i was an year one, and now im an year six and it hurts me to know that you won’t be there when we are graduating. you had a special place in my heart, because you frequently surprised me with your fluent korean, thanks to your korean wife. i would miss conversing with you and i regret that i had not engaged in longer conversations to get to know you just because i was shy. i hope you would know that us students truly appreciate and miss you. you will always hold a special place in my heart. rest well, uncle. i hope you are in peace.
