Singapore Food:

Some popular food in Singapore are Rice and curry, Roti Prata, Singapore Satay, Laksa, and Hainanese. I would eat Singapore Satay. The Ingredients are 2 pounds chicken, 7 ounces palm sugar, ½ water, 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp, 3 ½ coriander seeds, 5 candlenuts, 2 ounces galangal, 2 stalks of lemongrass, 1 red chili, 5 ounces of onions, 1 tablespoon sugar, and ½ teaspoon salt. The sauce: ½ cup vegetable oil, 2 cups water, 2 ounces tamarind pulp, 1 cup roasted peanuts, ¼ cup sugar, ¾ teaspoon salt, ½ tablespoon rice vinegar, and 1 stalk lemongrass ( this sauce is also a dressing for salad). Directions:

Cut chicken into ½-inch cubes

Melt palm sugar on low heat with ¼ cups water

Stir the tamarind pulp with another ¼ cup water ( knead to discard seeds and fibers)

Grind or pound the candlenuts, galangal, lemongrass, chili, and shallots. Mix the salt, tamarind water, white sugar, palm sugar, and coriander into the mixture.

Put 3 pieces of chicken onto a skewer and soak in the mixture for 10 hours.

Barbecue until they are cooked. They should look golden brown.

Sauce: Mix water and tamarind pulp together. Strain to get the juice.

Grind or pound spice mixtures together. Fry the mixture in ½ cup oil. Add the sugar, peanuts, rice vinegar, lemongrass and salt. Boil these for 15 minutes. Serve the chicken skewers with the dipping sauce in a dipping bowl

Clothing:

The people of Singapore usually wear lightweight and western-style clothing. The young people of Singapore want to always wear the latest fashions. The old generation of Singapore dress conservatively. Traditional attire is worn for special occasions. Some traditional outfits are: Sari ( skirt), Salwar Kameez ( a shirt worn by woman), kebaya ( malaysian dress), Jipa ( t-shirt worn by men), cheongsam ( chinese dress), etc. I wore a traditional outfit worn by malaysians. The beautiful and colorful kebaya. I wore this traditional dress to how that I care about their religions and traditions.

I ordered this dress online before I went to Singapore. Someone from a wonderful clothing shop called New Kim Dressmaker sewed this for me in Singapore. The address is 211 Holland Avenue, Singapore 278967. The phone number is: +65-6467-2056.

Some places I visited during my trip to Singapore were: The Amusement Park at Haw Pav Village, The restored Alkaff Mansion, Singapore Zoological and Botanical Gardens, Van Kleef Aquarium at Fort Canning Park , the site of the historic chinese statues, and Sentosa. The place I enjoyed the most visiting was Sentosa. Sentosa is an Island just a little bit away from Singapore. I boarded a huge ferry to get there. While in the slow moving ferry, I had some delicious salmon. As I had looked over to Sentosa while still riding the ferry, I could taste the salmon that had gotten stuck between my braces. I had closed my eyes and breathed in the salty smell of the Ocean around us. The squawking of seagulls above us could be heard from miles away. The only noise relaxing was the sound of the water splashing as the ferry headed toward Sentosa. I had hung my arm over the edge of the ferry and while doing so, I could feel droplets of water hitting my hand. As soon as I saw the sign of Sentosa, I knew I would have a wonderful time there.
