She started the "Million Word Club" that rewarded and recognized readers who read a million words before the end of the school year. I felt as though I couldn't relate to the stories we were reading. I became so busy with extracurricular activities and sports that I prioritiezed reading less and less. It wasn't until my senior year that I found "BookTube" recommendations for new novels that I started to read for pleasure again. I was able to connect these new novels not only to personal experiences, but to the required readings for my classes as well. I read literature from more diverse authors in my Asian-American Lit. class, and some classics in my British Lit., Arthurian Lit., and Shakespeare classes. One big challenge I faced in my last year was my Honors Project. I was tasked with writing a 32 page paper regarding a novel I chose to analyze. This was a daunting task, but with help from my mentor and my peers, I was able to find and relay critical information, complete a prospectus, and present my information in a manner that conveyed the critical idea. This paper allowed me to recognize my potential and ability to master any goal I put my mind to. When I read a text, I like to visually read it, as well as listen to an audio format of it. Using both formats allows me to absorb the information better as well as helps me to expand my vocabulary.
