Monday, January 3, Slaughter, Louisiana. Sheila Fletcher calls 911 and tells them that her 36 year old daughter had unexpectedly stopped breathing. They declared that the final reasoning of death would be a mix of sepsis and starvation, on top of severe medical neglect. Despite this the Mother claims she fed her daughter, and washed the sores on her back every night, but detectives only found a bowl of hard candy in the room were Lacey was found as Sheila and Clay had been away that week.

Longtime neighbors (8 years) stated that throughout the entire time of being the Fletchers' neighbors; they never even knew they had a child of any kind. All signs seemed to be pointing to Sheila and Clay were responsible and they were promptly arrested on February 20, and charged with second degree murder, later the charges were dropped on a plea deal. They are now in jail for 20-40 years, convicted of manslaughter.
