Foreign Correspondents are mainly redundant

Due to the rise of Social Media and parachute journalism, FC's have been made a redundant job. Social media (especially Twitter) is a free and fluid organ which anyone can access. Domestic Journalists are the new FCs, when they report on nationwide issues, reports from different countries can simply look at their stories. The public can also directly do this too.

It can be viewed that citizen journalism and parachute journalism, as more economically efficient options of gathering foreign news stories, have made foreign correspondence redundant. However, we should be viewing the rise of technology as an alternative to the viewing of news stories, not as a replacement. Technology, social media especially has allowed us to see new perspectives and opinions on foreign correspondence, but sending a correspondent to another country, is a much more balanced, objective and of course professional way of presenting news. Foreign correspondence therefore in my eyes should not be made redundant, as it’s important to view raw footage, and to see realistic representations of situations, wars and conflict at home and abroad.

NO - Journalists embedded in a country will likely be able to offer greater insight, develop closer relationships to the subjects/people they are there to cover. And also understand the subtleties of customs and traditions of a particular culture. Which helps to give a more comprehensive picture of the story

no, because It is difficult to know what the truth, cause people in general might publish fake, because, they do not feel that they are responsible, and they know that they will not be charged if they publish lies on the internet
