We discussed the following things:

It changes weather: more rain, more heat, storms floods, heat waves, hurricanes. Floods have a domino effect at almost every level starting with the citizens, their homes being affected and culminated with all the investment the government has to do to clean the disaster.

The sea levels rise: the poles have the clean water, and if mixes with the salt water, it becomes undrinkable. Separating it is very expensive and it pollutes more than it helps.

Animals can become extinct: the ecosystem loses its balance and and the extinction of some animals impact the foodweb that exists, it can affect in plagues of some animals and it impacts the food we eat.

Agricultural patterns can change. People have to invest more because of the weather condition become unbearable for the production of crops, and they’ll be more expensive, and it will be unsustainable for the production of crops.

I was motivated because recognizing the problem and the awful consequences that it could have in our earth, I want to understand better the problem and see if there is a way I can help. Global Warming makes me feel worried and a little bit sad, because cities will disappear, people can die because of hurricanes and floods, many will lose their houses, food will be more scarce. It will be horrible, and people don’t even realize it, or if they do they don’t care, and I think that’s even worse. I feel that way because I feel it’s my responsibility to take care of the world I live in, and make it better for future generations. I believe that if all the people unite, we can solve this problem, but we have to start right away.

We chose this topic because we think that global warming right now is an important problem that our world is facing. Many years ago this wasn’t a big issue but right now with the new technology, the destruction of many forests, the increase in the use of cars and fabrics, etc. has affected our planet earth. I was motivated because I have seen many videos or ads in the social media about the global warming and it made me want to know more about the topic. The global warming is a topic that concerns me and it made me think that not only us as humans get affected, many animals are losing their homes and are dying. I am also afraid about what is going to happen to our planet if we continue like this? If we start taking action we can help prevent Global Warming from getting worse.

Global warming is a collective goods problem, because the effects it will have in the future, will affect all countries, not one country is going to be able to come out of this problem without the help of the rest if the world. All countries must unite and decide which is the best way to address the problem and everyone needs to do their part. If only, say half of the countries, make an effort, but the other half don’t do anything, then the problem can and will not be solved. This is why Global Warming is a collective goods problem.
