Caesar's assassins killed Caesar to preserve their own power. We know this because Caesar was dictator for life at the time, meaning he was all-powerful and he was giving more power to plebs and taking power from the patricians. They killed Caesar because they were patricians. This would help them if they could choose one of their own to take power. This did not work because Caesars son: Augustus said that they were murderers, meaning they could not take power.

Caesars assassins were concerned for the Republic, but they wanted to preserve their power more. They obviously felt threatened that Caesar wanted to give Plebeians more power, and they did not want to be equal with them. In killing him, they wanted to preserve their power and take away the threat of Plebeians rising up.

Augustus always avoided the title of dictator like Julius Caesar did to make himself look more humble. He also put the senate in control of less powerful provinces claiming they were safer.

The republic was falling apart before Caesar came to power in many ways. Firstly, the Plebeian and Patrician classes were obviously unequal and the Plebeians (which made up most of the population) had very little power and were likely going to revolt soon, which would cause even more division and chaos than there already was. Caesar fixed this problem by giving the Plebeians more power, letting them into politics too.

The Pax Romana (Roman Peace) was the peacfull era under Augustus following his model of rule. It began to fall when major power shifts occured, plague swept over, and economics crashed.

Augustus took control of the stronger provinces (like Egypt) saying they might revolt and gave the Senate weaker provinces. This made the Senate unprepared for battle and made them very vulnerable to an attack. He also claimed to be the highest equal in all of Rome.

Agustous was very generous in winning over people's love. When taxes fell short he handed out grain and money. On his deathbed, he wrote down all his achievements in his life. But they weren't all his, he just took the credit of other people he worked with.

Caesar's reforms were a effort to help make life easier for plebeians and all people alike, and before this, more Plebeians were poor and worse-off.

Pax romana was a period of time in Rome where there was peace for 200 years.

Weak army: The roman army was weak because they hired and paid soldiers that were not from Rome, which meant they weren't loyal.
The roman leader during that time moved the capital of Rome down east, lowering the defensive systems in western Rome. which is when the barbarians attacked because they were weak at that time.
Bad economy: the Roman economy wasn't strong, leading to not very many people having jobs which made the empire weak and led to the downfall of Rome beside war

The Pax Romana was "Roman Peace." It was also called the Golden Age of Rome. It fell apart near the end of Marcus Aurelius's life. Firstly, politics became a mess of things. Emperors were chosen by the Senate, or by the Military. Secondly, the military became too big, and the frequent invasions gave nobody any breaks.

Pax Romana was a period of relative stability in Rome. It ended because of an unstable emperor, and it fell because the provinces had fights breaking out. Also the soldiers worked for money and not for Rome so Rome became more vulnerable because they had less soldiers and worse soldiers. Also the senate got less power because of the Emperors.

Augustus claimed that he saved the Republic by being manipulating. First of all, he gave out grain and money to prove that he's for the people. Secondly, when he declined Dictatorship, it was in front of an audience, proving that he is "humble" and honestly manipulating.

Augustus wrote more stuff on his accomplishments then his downfall, and set out laws and such to win over public admiration and to set himself well in the public image, and used the Pax Romana as a reason he was so good. He also gave himself humbler labels such as first citizen.

THE PAX ROMANA WAS A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN ROME WAS IN RELATIVE PEACE UNDER THE RULE OF AUGUSTUS. Augustus claimed that he brought stability to Rome with his leadership, he avenged Caesar by killing his murderers. Also he claimed to give out grain and money from his own supply to the poor.

Augustus did a lot of things for the people making himself more popular, which led to him being able to make more decisions with the publics approval and the senate would feel like they had no choice but to pass the laws
Augustus gave himself more of the powerful land and control of the military so that they would listen to him and not anybody else

Augustus never took the title of dictator. Instead he took the title of "First Citizen". Meanwhile he preserved the peace and Republican institutions like the Senate. This make it appear like Augustus did not want to take all of the power for himself. Though in reality he had control of the military provinces and held all of the important political offices.
