Awareness= an important step that involves transparency and transformative home-school partnerships. This also goes along with advocacy which helps parents and educators fight injustice and improve a child's education.

Brokering= brokers serve as mediators when it comes to providing families access to school culture and language. It also goes along with building trust because this is key when working with students and their families.

Communication= meaningful two-way communication between school and home is important to address needs. Connect to learning is also important because we want parents to be able to help their students at home so the parents should know what is going on.

Partnership with the students parents are critical to their success. Schools are also required to communicate with parents in a language they understand.

Work with liaisons to figure out how to provide translated information. Provide multiple ways of communication such as email, physical letters/forms, pone calls or texts.

Families can be tremendous allies and ambassadors for their community. Communicating and asking what their concerns are, invite them to school meetings, and taking their input seriously is a great way to keep them in the loop and on your side.
