Opposing view:
- travelling for gap years can be expensive
- sets you back in graduating college, finding a job, etc.  (may miss an opportunity of getting into a prestigious college )
- many people would be unproductive and lazy during the gap year
- students may not be able to get back in to studying and college routine after a year off
- can be a risk to take a year off school

Cutting the points of the opposing view:
 - you do not need to travel very far to make the most of your gap year, you can volunteer within your own area
-  a year off will help the student refresh their minds, and make them more motivated to get back into school and study what they are passionate about


Advantages of gap year:
- gap year allows you to discover and find out about yourself, your hobbies, your skills, your talents, etc.
-  allows you to take a break from studying and exams, destress
- allows you to discover more about the career you plan to choose, get experience, and see if you really enjoy that career
- work experience can be put on CV to boost it and ensure a great job

My view
I believe that a gap year can be very beneficial for students who have graduated highschool, and plan to move on to university. A gap year will allow students to take a break from constant textbook study, 7 hours of school a day, exams, etc. A gap year will allow them to discover who they are as a person, their hobbies, skills, strengths, weaknesses, and students can also develop their practical skills, such as improving their public speaking. They can gain a lot of experience wolunteering in places that offer internships in the same career they plan to study in university, and pursue in the future. The students can improve their CV by putting the volunteer work on it and this may help them in getting into a prestigious college, which will be beneficial for them, and also get a job that they are passionate about.
A break from studyng and school routine would leave the students refreshed and motivated for their university experience.

-  It gives you time to take a break from all the stress due to your school life. The exams and studies can cause personal burden onto someone, therefore they long for a break, hence the gap year.
- Many students want to feel free and be exposed to the many wonders of the outside life of school. School can feel cramped and then there is the knowledge to learn, so if the gap year is taken, students can enjoy the freedom of being lively.
- Students can learn practical skills outside of school and possibly apply them in their studies. They will be gaining extra hands-on skills and apply them in school.
- It gives you the time of realization. Meaning identifying who really are and who you can actually be and what can you effectively do. My view:
- A gap year can be beneficial in many ways. One of which that it help a student relax and broaden their perspective, either in far away places or within their community. Those new experiences can provide them with new views on culture, values, global issues  and in depth understanding of real life struggles.
-  The student has the ability in the gap year to learn more about themselves, as during high school they are never free enough to know what they want in life, its just about getting by. In a gap year you get to reinvent yourself and try things you would never do, you would get to build on your practical skills as learning how to become independent, improve communication skills etc. It can also help find what you are passionate about doing, through observations and volunteering.
- it can also help build a stronger resume/university  application, if you have volunteered it can boost your university  application and help  you get into your dream university. If you did any internships during your gap year, there is a higher chance for you to getting a job as you have had more experience. Most internships and some volunteering organisations pay you, this will also be a good opportunity to save your money for university.

In Conclusion:
Gap years are beneficial even-though they seem unnecessary. my view:

- lets students take a break from all the stress of constant studying and exams and travel around the world, volunteer in events and help benefit the local community, discover new hobbies and self reflecting on themselves to figure out whether they enjoy what they are opting to do before they commit to it
-Students can gain a lot of experience volunteering in places that offer internships in the same major / career they plan to study in the future. The students can improve their CV by putting the volunteer work on it and this may help them in getting into a good college, and also get a job that they are passionate about.
