Yes, many times. Between students. In my K-12 experiences, some non-ELT students tease/bully ELT students. And also, discriminatory behavior between ELT students in my adult ELT classes.

In a class in our Intensive English Program we have students from various countries learning together. Most of them are young adults who want to pursue university. In one semester, an older gay gentleman from Iran joined the program. He was bullied in words and actions by some of the young men from Kuwait - called inappropriate names, having the way he talked made fun of, getting looks in the hall after class. Instructors intervened rather generically about respect of one another, but I'm not entirely sure they did enough to stand up for him. He ultimately withdrew from the program.

There is still discrimination against teachers of English whose first language is not English.

Yes, unfortunately I have witnessed discrimination in ELT classes. Students being discriminated by other students because of physical appearance, sexual orientation, place of origin and accent.

I've witnessed prejudice in my adult ESL classrooms: class, accent, religion, race, gender, age, and sexuality. There is discrimination among the faculty: L2 speakers of English, age, and male teachers.

-turning away non-White educators from jobs

-not paying or promoting non-White teachers the same

-colleagues speaking extra loud and slow to NNESTs at the TESOL convention like their English wasn't proficient

-lack of representation in textbooks and materials, etc or negative representations

-systemically excluding minoritized groups through non inclusion both in teaching and TESOL PD

In TESOL context, students are always discriminated on the way they speak, and try to adopt to the real English settings
