The morning of April 19th, 1995 an ex-Army soldier and security guard, Timothy McVeigh drove his rented Ryder truck downtown to the front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. With the new implementation of the internet and computers being introduced to the world and taking everyone by surprise it allowed for the opening of a whole new door for gaining research about anything. Timothy used the new technology to research how to make bombs out of fertilizer, diesel fuel, and other chemicals. At around 9:02 Timothy got out of his car, locked it and walked to his getaway car, at that moment the bomb exploded inside the truck creating what looked like a scene from a movie with buildings all the way down the block destroyed and gone from sight. This event went down as the worst act of homegrown terrorism in U.S. history. This terrible event killed "168 people, including 19 children, with several hundred more injured."

About 80 miles north of Oklahoma City McVeigh was pulled over by an officer who had noticed that his car was missing it's license plate. While pulling him over the cop noticed concealed weapons hidden in his car and arrested him on the spot for carrying these deadly weapons. This was almost 90 minutes after the bomb went off. Eventually the FBI found a piece of the van and it's number to were they then contacted the company of the rental place and found out who had renteded the truck. They then traced it all the way back to McVeigh and confiscated both him and his conspirators.

1. Why did you choose this topic?
I choose this topic because I already had some background knowledge of what this event was due to the fact that I saw it in past assignments we had to do for this class. It interested me we I noticed that the terrorist was an American grown citizen and had actually served in the Army before committing this terrible act.
2. What did you already know or think about the topic going into it?
Before starting this project I already knew that it was an American grown citizen who committed this attack against our country. I knew that it took place in Oklahoma and occurred during the 90's. Along with the fact that it was one of the deadlists domestic terrorists attack against the U.S.
3. What did you learn from your research?
I learned that McVeigh learned a ton of his research off of the new technology that was introduced to the world around this time. The internet was very new to everyone and allowed for McVeigh to get all his research he needed on making bombs very quickly and easily. This event opened the eyes of many into realizing how much the internet and technology was going to change our lives forever.
4. How did your research change your opinion?
I really didn't have any opinions going into this, I already knew that this was a terrible attack against the U.S. that killed so many innocent people. It really made me realize how powerful technology can be and with everyone being so new to the internet it really caused them to take a step back and think about how careful they need to be when using this foreign technology.
5. How does this topic relate to the world today?
This topic can be related to any form of terrorism against the U.S. I think that this event is a reason to why we are so protective of our lives and personal security nowadays. I think that this event caused everyone to take things more seriously and is a reason to why we are so quick to accuse or point things out that could be damaging to us or the lives around us.
