My students, sometimes, have no shame in hiding they are bored.  They look as though they are staring into space.  Sometimes resting their face on their hand.  They neither look pleased or angry.  Body language is very slouched, not sitting upright.

Just today, after school I noticed one of my previous students sitting alone. I knew immediately that was sad and when I asked if she was ok, she broke down and started crying. I knew she was sad because she displayed a frown on her face and was sulking. Her head was looking down and then there were tears. They can sometimes tilt their head and squint their eyes. They will even just stare at the board or in their book and not speak because they are confused. All of these non verbal cues help the teacher or anyone else who is communicating with the person to know they are confused.

Wide eyes, large body movements such as jumping, spinning and dancing show that someone is feeling very happy.  Each time one of my students sees her dad at dismissal she begins to smile, jump up and down and scream, " there is my dad!" to show her happiness and excitement to see him. 
One point I wanted to mention,however, was that even though someone is smiling on the outside, it does not always mean they are happy on the inside.
