Here are some supplements that will help with some parts of speech - the songs are great just, you'll see when you listen to them. I'll type them up later.

Day 1

Read the story for context. Write the sentence. Take to students about what they notice.

What type of sentence?

Is it simple or complex?

How many words?

This takes 10-15 minutes and should be integrated in your iReady lessons. 2-5 uses sentences from the ready reading program. K-1 will use sentences from the decodables.

Day 2

Identify the parts of speech, the subject and the predicate.

Day 3

Revise:

Take 2-3 parts of speech to change. Student will ONLY changes those parts of speech to create a new sentence.

Synonym dictionary can be used.

When we print vocab pages, we need to have synomyms on them as well.

Day 4

Using only the parts of speech we've worked with, students will write a new sentence. As we are learning about sentence writing, we're not deviating from the "frames." Illustrate the new sentence.
