The idea of my comic strip came from two articles. One of them being about how a Chick-fil-a employee named Kevin Blair in Stone Mountain, Georgia fought off an armed robber and the second article about how a soccer team in north-east of England, Yarms Eaglescliffe, came back when they were down by 4 against Sunderland West End in a Northern Two League Division game. Despite the situation Kevin Blair and Yarms Eaglescliffe were in, they kept strong and pushed through. Kevin Blair knew he could have gotten fatally shot at any time, yet he fought back, and he fought strong. He knew that if he died, he wouldn’t be able to see his kids again which drove the strength in him. Blair was able to knock the gun out of the thief’s hand which would cause the thief to run away and later be arrested. Yarms Eaglescliffe were down by 4 in the last minutes of the game, most people would have given up but that wasn’t the case for Ste Roberts, he was the player that saw it through and shot twice as many in the last minutes he had, tying up the game. Roberts was able to add 5 more minutes to the game and ended up passing the ball to his teammate, Tom Atkinson who would ultimately score and win the game, 6-5. These very articles gave me the idea to create a comic strip based on what these articles represented, Courage. Courage can not only be found in these articles, but also in a book called “To Killing a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, which should be taught in schools. Students learn that anything can be accomplished when they never give up, see it through, and push through the failure that they are being faced with. When students learn this, this could help them reach their goals better and possibly help them out in the future later in life as an adult.
