Most people in Honduras don’t feel safe near there homes and in there community.  So they flee their towns in search for safety.  Fleeing will not be easy, they must sleep outdoors in very low temperatures.  Some will get sick along the way and never make it to where they want to be.  4,700 refugees and migrants with travel miles and miles of hot dirt roads. It is 1,600 kilometers between San Pedro Sula and Mexico City.  While they travel they will have little to no food or drinks. The Mexican government has starting asking the U.S. government for help to process the asylum requests. Many people have reported being threatened by gangs in there community. A fourteen year old girl was asked to be the girlfriend of a gang member.  When she refused, she was threatened with her life. While walking home a man was striped of all his clothes and left with nothing. Some people get trash thrown at them for absolutely no reason. People just walking to work are getting shoot for nothing. They have to live life with violence, death threats, sexual abuse and lack of food plus jobs. Many people are at risk mostly children, LGBTQ members and elderly. Even people in Guatemala are fleeing Mexico for a better life. They are going through hot temperatures in the day and very cold at night. These children are having to grow up where they can’t walk down the street without being harassed.

They started to make existing shelters larger to hold more refugees to stay. The Mexican government made 3,264 new asylums. The UNHCR double the size of their team to create 45 more emergency shelters. They did everything they could to help refugees in making there way to a better future.

It has been hard with it being so hot during the day and extremely cold when the sun goes down.  My wife is pregnant and it was been especially hard for her.  We have little to no food or water for many days on end. My mother is with us as well, she is very old and tried at this point but we need to keep moving. I hear that Mexico will be welcoming us with open arms.
