Chapter 9: "Escape to the south"

The chapter begins with three men coming to the towers where Marcus and Esca were, they were waiting for them. Marcus hit one and esca hit the other. The third man (liathan) was left alive. "I wanted to be the one to get back the Eagle-god, but others will be here soon" said Liathan. Marcus tells him to warn the others that they had run away. After some arguin, They heard horses and the screams of men. Marcus threatens Liathan with a knife, he stands up trying to decide what to do and ends up telling them (the hunters) that Marcus and Esca were not there, that they had escaped. The hunters looked for them but did not see anything. After that, Liathan told Marcus that he had his father's ring "We found the ring-brooch by the lake". He took it from her and escaped with Esca. Finally, Marcus went to were his uncle drusillus was. "Commander Aquila! What brings you here" said Drusillus.
"It´s a long story" said Marcus.
And he put the eagle on the Commander´s desk.
