He didn't want to settle for the way he was living. He did many things to try to achieve his dream. Even when there were setbacks, he still didn't give up.

In Raisin in the sun a major theme is dreams. Many people had dreams in Raisin in the sun. Walter wanted to own a liquor store, Benetha wanted to become a doctor, and Mama wanted to bring the family together. All of them tried to achieve there dreams, but few could.
This is the same as Fences where many characters had dreams. Troy wanted to become a baseball player, but he couldn't do it. Cory wanted to become a football player but couldn't. This relates to Raisin in the sun, because both Walter and Benetha couldn't accomplish there dreams this lead both Walter and Troy to have a rough outlook on life and is the reason for most of there actions.

The words from this poem presents Walter and his way of doing things. Their are many parallels between Walter and the essay as a whole. Walter had ambition, but when life betrayed him, his ambition turned to despair. Also his ambition also ended after messing with his family's lives.

The art really represents Walter and his ideals thought the story. In the story Walter obsessed with becoming wealthy and rich. This parallels with the picture and how there are many riches present. He also believes that he is a giant and every one around him are ants. This connects with the picture because the man is sitting in a kings seat and is most likely the one at the top.

I do not sympathize with Walter. He brought most of the misfortune on himself, and even got his family involved. He was warned many times by the people closest to him about his actions and didn't listen. Also he didn't have any plans for if something went wrong, and didn't even apologies when it did.

Stubborn

“Forget it baby! There ain’t no causes—there ain’t nothing but taking in this world, and he who takes most is smartest—and it don’t make a damn bit of difference how.” P. 143

This quote shows Walter is stubborn because he is fixated on the idea that the world is as the quote described. He also doesn't change his view despite his conversations with his family. Even hen he is proved wrong, he still thinks hes right. He also doesn't really make much of an attempt to change.
