What is your main reason for using or wanting to use tablets in your classroom?

Today kids prefer to read on screen so students' motivation will increase. We should know how to use technology as a 21 st century learner & teacher.

It's easy to use & flexible. Everything is in one place ( books, dictionaries, calendars etc. & lots of fruitful apps) . Kids don't have to carry heavy backpacks. They also take their IPads everywhere so the learning becomes 24/7.

Education gives opportunity to create differentiated & personalized learning for kids.

Kids, teachers & parents are more engaged. Kids take responsibility for their own learning. They don't miss a class because of illness etc. and don't get left behind

What whole-school & class challenges do I already face or do I anticipate facing when using tablets?

Technical support is the biggest challenge because we haven't got enough ICT teachers and support. Therefore, we should provide trainings for teachers. Wifi connection is sometimes a problem. The other important issue is parents. We should also persuaded administration & parents about how tablets are useful for learning process.

I've never used Edmodo before but it sounds really good and looks easy to use. I think it's a good way to engage with kids. It's also nice to connect with kids anywhere and anytime. I'll try it soon;)

I haven't used Learning Scenarios before but it looks very useful. I've checked out seven phases and sure that Learning Scenarios will be very good for projects. Learning Scenarios has 7 phases.They focus on Content creation, collaboration, flipped classroom and personalised learning.

Learning Scenarios phases:

Dream : where students can brainstorm and think free

Explore : collect data

Map : structure ideas and concepts

Make : develop content & do activities

Ask : ask questions

Re-make : replan on feedbacks

Show : publish and present

Module2 Task 2 - What kind of content can you produce with your class?

My students create posters using glogster. This is a nice tool to share your idea with others and you can also embed in to a blog or print your poster. They always prefer creating their posters on online they don't like preparing their projects in classical way with scissors, glue, papers etc. They also create their own story book using storybird and bookr. We also use little bird tales for early primary. We use Prezi and Powtoon for presentations. We also use voice thread to record voice. Voki is nice,too. Photopeach, Animoto and Smilebox to create your slideshow and embed into your blog.

Tricider is a wonderful app for sharing information and ideas.

Padlet is a nice app to create and collaborate.

I'll check out BookCreator, showbie, paper plane and thing link. Fav apps

Glogster is a nice tool to create posters. Students love using it. Check out one of my students posters about endangered animals; the giant panda.

I prefer heterogeneous group. Students have different abilities work together. Each group has four students or three. By the way class tolls.net name picker tool is a fun way to choose group members for students. Check out TEAM UP

Important to assign a role to all members of each group. Teacher should set deadlines for their work and guide them. When everything is clear and planned , they will motivate each other. They will learn from their group friends. Check out popplet, pic collage, pirate pad

Module 4.1Learning Styles of your Students

We're unique just like everybody else.Each kid is unique. If we say some of the kids can’t learn, we should change the way we teach.Most of the kids are labeled with learning disable.The kids have gifts don’t receive much reinforcement for them in schools.
I'm the conductor of my class as a teacher. I should motivate the kids for the topic and i should also consider my students' different intelligences, strengths and weaknesses. Most of the schools focus on linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences.These traditional methods that based on IQ testing are limited. Instead of focusing on the traditional methods, I focus on different intelligences and present my lessons in a wide variety of ways using music, role play, art activities, cooperative learning, field trips, web 2.0 tools and much more. I don’t have to teach something in eight ways but I can create the most effective way to teach a topic for my students. Just observe them and create natural environment that can express themselves. By the way we can use some special test to understand them, too.

‘The Animal School' written by George H. Reavis, is a great story to remind me how important to consider kids’ individuals strengths and learning differences when teachers present their lessons. Let's read the story one more time;)

Once upon a time the animals decided they must do something heroic to meet the problems of a “new world” so they organized a school. They had adopted an activity curriculum consisting of running, climbing, swimming and flying. To make it easier to administer the curriculum, all the animals took all the subjects.

The duck was excellent in swimming. In fact, better than his instructor. But he made only passing grades in flying and was very poor in running. Since he was slow in running, he had to stay after school and also drop swimming in order to practice running. This was kept up until his webbed feet were badly worn and he was only average in swimming. But average was acceptable in school so nobody worried about that, except the duck.
The rabbit started at the top of the class in running but had a nervous breakdown because of so much makeup work in swimming.
The squirrel was excellent in climbing until he developed frustration in the flying class where his teacher made him start from the ground up instead of the treetop down. He also developed a “charlie horse” from overexertion and then got a C in climbing and D in running.
The eagle was a problem child and was disciplined severely. In the climbing class, he beat all the others to the top of the tree but insisted on using his own way to get there.
At the end of the year, an abnormal eel that could swim exceeding well and also run, climb and fly a little had the highest average and was valedictorian.

The prairie dogs stayed out of school and fought the tax levy because the administration would not add digging and burrowing to the curriculum. They apprenticed their children to a badger and later joined the groundhogs and gophers to start a successful private school

Module4.2 Tablets AND Personalization

I have never worked work with tablets in my classroom but sure that tablets will be so useful to personalise the learning experience of my students. We can use smart boards at class so we use some tools. Class Dojo is a fun way to improve students’ behaviors and engagement by awarding and recording real-time feedback.Popplet to make own mind map. Class blogs to share ideas.

Razz-kids is a nice interactive reading programme that motivates students to read a book by awarding stars for practice, reading success on books, quizzes and other assessments. Students use the stars to personalize their Raz Rocket environment and robot in the Robot Builder. They also record their reading and teachers access the recording anytime and score them. Teachers can give assignments, follow students’ progress and view their reports easily. Teachers can also access wide variety of downloadable cards and certificates that can be used to encourage and reward successful readers

Module 4.4 Flipping the Classroom

Flipped Classroom model is a nice way to teach kids outside the class. In this model teacher is a facilitator. We use Raz kids, Class Blogs, and BrainPop ESL. We also create a channel on YouTube. Students can access whenever they want using their mobile devices. Class blog is a good way to share ideas about a topic.

Skqueak ıs a tool that you can upload your Photos and record audio.

BrainPop ESL is a site for teaching English to students include animated movies to model conversational. We also use class dojo that is a fun way to improve students’ behaviors and engagement by awarding and recording real-time feedback.by the way don't forget to check out Khan Academy.

Module 4.5 Challenges of flipped classroom

All kids can have and use mobile devices at home so we should involve the parents. I think that mixed abilities can be the other challenge

To design learning activities that meet students' needs, competences, capabilities and learning preferences of individual students. Teacher should prepare collaborative activities and exercises as a facilitator, educator, designer, researcher. Students work in pairs, groups or teams. We should find our students' type of learner using questionnaires, portfolios or face to face discussions. Students take responsibility of their learning.
