This was because of the Federalists' greater favoritism of higher/manufacturing classes and desire for a strong central government, as well as a neutral stance with other countries. Jefferson and Adams however, refrained from foreign affairs to avoid war and embargoes put in place to pay off national debt instead of a national bank.<br><br></div>]]></description>
