Once you have a TOPIC you read and search about it. Then you come up with a position, a state or an opinion and then you support it at a logical, acceptable way in 3 points ( three things, reasons, causes, effects).
example: 
Topic: What are the essential characteristics of good parents?
3 reasons: patience, respect and love.
Second Formula: The Thesis Formula
It´s your opinion on the topic, your position.
It can be written with a formula.
You take a topic and add to it your opinion/ position on the topic combine into one sentence.
Third formula: The 1-3-1 Outline
  • One paragraph for the introduction. 
  • Three paragraphs for your body.
  • One paragraph for your conclusion
Outline:
We put the thesis statement as the last sentence of the introduction paragraph. 
Then, we put the three main points as the three topic sentences of your three body paragraphs.
Finally, we are going to have a conclusion in which you revisit your thesis in a special way.
