Leaving home

Leaving your home isn't easy. In 2014, over 19.5 million people left they're home and are living as refugees. Many children have come alone as well. 72, 250 unaccompanied children had made it to the US southern border. With nowhere to put them, many apprehensions have taken place. The US border patrol apprehended at least 26,937 children, over 9,000 last year. CBP refers the children the health and human services, it is not enough. The children are at risk.

School

Refugees don't get education until they become citizen in the country they are wanting to live in. As of August 2019, over 2 million Syrian children are at risk of dropping out, while 800,000 refugees remain in school. It also depends on location, rural areas have extremely limited access to schools. Because of attacks on education facilities and military use of over 50 schools, rural areas don't have school near them. This makes it hard for refugees with little to no transportation to get to school. Refugees also need to learn the curriculum of their new home. Sometimes they must learn an entire language, which is hard to learn with age. Many refugees can also suffer from discrimination and harassment for being different

Health

Many refugee children have mental health illnesses. While migrating, they have experienced physical and emotional traumas from witnessing violence. Not just that but they are also separated from their parents/guardians while migrating. They have been rid of basic needs and education, this messes with normal development. Those who don't get educated are likely to feel helpless and weak. This increases their vulnerability and terrorism. Their location could also have a toll on their health. Horrible living conditions, violence, and poor nutrition could also be bad for children.

Why they left

Many refugees leave because of chaos and war. They have witnessed a lot of their family and friends die. Children have had to hide and witness bloodshed. They made a difficult decision to leave their home for the safety of who they had left. Many people will never get back what they lost after leaving. Peoples hard work, food, prized possessions, and more. People gave it a lot up and fled. They didn't have a choice.
